They were first announced at the annual party rally held in Nuremberg in 1935. The laws institutionalized many of the racial theories prevalent in Nazi ideology. The laws also prevented Jews from marrying or having sexual relations with persons of “German or related blood”.

These groups of people were not allowed to be a part of the “racially pure” Germany. Death camps were set up designed solely to kill people deemed ‘undesirable’.

The genocide of the Jews was the culmination of a decade of increasingly severe discriminatory measures. In its entirety, the Nazis killed the Jews by gassing, shooting, and other means. Six million Jewish men and women were killed during the Holocaust.

The Rabbi eventually received news of the report via British channels and asked the state department to investigate the information. A few weeks later, the United States, Britain, and ten other allied governments issued a declaration stating that Nazi Germany’s atrocities and crimes would be held responsible for their actions.

The site chosen for the trials was Nuremberg, Germany between 1945 and 1946. Judges from the allied powers-Great Britain, France, the Soviet Union, and the United States-presided over the hearings of twenty-two major Nazi criminals. Twelve Nazis were sentenced to death. Most of the defendants admitted to the crimes they committed while others said they were simply following the order of higher authority. The people directed involved in the murders received more severe sentences.
