         <description><![CDATA[<div>The heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, Franz Ferdinand, was assassinated by Slavic Nationalist Gavrilo Princip. The assassination is considered the spark that ignited WW1.          <description><![CDATA[<div>On May 7, 1915, a Germane submarine caused the sinking of a British ocean liner know as the RMS Lusitania. The sinking of the Lusitania turned American public opinion against Germany due to the fact that 128 Americans were killed in the sinking.          <description><![CDATA[<div>British cryptographers intercepted a telegram sent from Germany to their ambassador in Mexico which urged Mexico to invade the US and reclaim their old territories in Arizona and Texas. The telegram also urged Japan to enter the war.
