In the story, Dad takes Billy and Becket in the middle of the night and runs away from Pearl. They move to  new house by the seaside and they go to a new school. Then one day on a crews ship, he got thrown overboard. Edward was found and lost by many people, and had an amazing adventure. The mammoth was alive but didn't attack Elsie and Dotty because they were nice and cared for him.
