Profile of the Hero - Characterization of the hero BEFORE the journey:

Born on May 14, 1984, Mark Zuckerberg's childhood years were very different than most of ours. He had an interest in computer programming at an early age, so he began writing his own programs in the sixth grade. Since he had so many amazing talented skills, he transferred out of his public school in his sophomore year to a private boarding school, Philips Exeter Academy. He transferred to this private boarding school because his old public school, Ardsley High School, didn't have many computer classes or more challenging math classes, so he chose to transfer to this private boarding school. In the fall of 2002, he enrolled into the Harvard University. He got in some trouble during his two years at that school. He opened two programs, Coursematch and Facemash. Coursematch was innocent, but Facemash was not allowed because it was illegally accessing the Harvard computer system to get student's photos. However, he brainstormed the idea to create a program that will now change his life. He decided to create "Facebook" . He opened thefacebook.com in his dormitory room on February 4, 2004. Within just two weeks, it had more than 4,000 registered users among Harvard students, faculty members, and alumni. The evidence shows this step of the hero's journey by showing how he changed before the journey and after the journey. For example, he was a smart student who was unaware of his amazing skills relating to computer programming but then after the journey he realized his true potential. He returned to the ordinary world with a gift of realization of his computer programming skills.

Source Citation:

"Mark Zuckerberg." Wikipedia.

Mark Zuckerberg first opening Facebook starts the "journey" for him. He enters out of the ordinary world into the unordinary world when he drops out of Harvard University to continue programming Facebook, which soon became an $80 billion company. The ordinary world for Mark Zuckerberg is his college, Harvard University. He starts his journey once he drops out of college, and then he enters the unordinary world when he first opens Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg did not return to Harvard after he dropped out. Instead, he went to Palo Alto, California and established a corporate office. Over time, facebook.com slowly grew. As it grew, it allowed high school students to join Facebook in 2005. Then in 2006 it allowed anyone to join over the age of 13, which greatly increased the amount of registered users. By late 2007, an estimated 150,000 new users were joining Facebook every day. The evidence shows this step of the hero's journey because it's showing what starts his journey in becoming the CEO of this excelling company.

Source Citation:

"Mark Zuckerberg." Newsmakers. The message all humans can appreciate by learning about the person is that Mark Zuckerberg followed his dream, by persevering and really try his best to accomplish this dream. This shows that dreams really come true if you try hard to accomplish it. In order for a person to become a hero, the most important trait to have is
