Assessing the Claim: The Claim was stating that there is sufficient evidence supporting the life of extra-terrestrials by witnessing UFO sightings in space. I do believe that people can say that they "saw" UFOs but they need credible and concrete evidence.

Evaluating the Evidence: The result/evidence found were not video tapes, videos, or concrete data. They are basing the claim based on a laboratory voice test. While the test can be accurate, how credible can you be if you don't have concrete data.
Weigh the Argument: The result being that the astronauts seen the UFOs is true to them, but there is insufficient evidence to actually prove that.

Being in a magnet school and teaching math and science, critical thinking is super important for me to understand. I am using the following excerpts from the reading passage:

"There is no single profile for a highly able or gifted student. There are bright kids...there are bright kids who are both highly able and learning disabled...there are bright kids just learning to speak English...kids from low-income backgrounds...convergently bright kids and divergently bright kids. Bright kids who can’t wait to go to school, and bright kids who are deeply alienated from school."

I defend that critical thinking is important to teach ALL students, GT included. You cannot just base an answer just because you think it's true. We use CER: Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning to make scientific decisions when working on experiments.

Warm-Up Questions: You can post a math question with blank spaces where the numbers would be. You would then ask students to see what they needed to do in order to solve the problem. They could even come up with numbers by themselves.
Whole Class Discussions: You could have critical thinking by hosting a debate between half of the classroom with a topic that they have to defend and support.
Extension: For GT students, always prepare and option for interested or advanced materials. I have a student who is currently working on a presentation two grade levels above while others are collaborating with daily lessons.
Exit Questions: Students show mastery of topic working on that day.

Yes. Critical thinking is monumental for all students. I encourage you to look more into Depth and Complexity as question stems to promote critical thinking. Great work, Danny!
