Rationale - I chose this trend because it is something new that one of my teacher friends mentioned to me. After she told me about this trend, I began to research it a little more for my PLN. I feel like this would be difficult to implement, but would love to see how other teachers use AR in their rooms to get ideas to use in my room.

After exploring my PLN resources, I found several ways to do a flipped classroom rather than the traditional video method.

Rationale - I chose this trend because coding is becoming such a big thing. Some of my students (5th grade) have mentioned they would like to do coding as a job once they are older. I want to prepare them for the future, where more and more coding jobs are being created, so I would like to research how I can use coding in a math and science classroom.

Rationale- I chose this trend because it was also a main part of the focus of our learning this week. As a curriculum and technology committee team member at my district I need to be able to bring to the table ways to expand our professional development. Our jobs as educators continue to expand in time requirements, and the need to connect to find solutions increases as well, leaving with time constraints. Therefore, we must look digital to continue our learning to keep up with changing society and pedagogical needs.

Rationale- I guess I had not really paid attention to these before this weeks lesson. I really like the concept of using the verbs in the trend to complete the artwork. For example, the garden sketch note in this weeks lesson about growing your PLN (grow). AS i looked around I found so many more of these that I started to formulate lesson ideas around them. I found one that was a "board game" that featured different products, and the step was based on the complexity of learning that product. I also found one that was "The Power of I Don't Know" and led teachers through the steps of not being the sole source of knowledge in the classroom, but how to use that phrase to lead students to knowledge. I have used art in my classroom for many lessons, but never thought about it for notes. This is a great idea that may help reorganize how I structure my note process.

Rationale- It is obviously important to teach our students how to behave online. However, the trends seem to be focusing on not just the golden rule, but ripping down the digital curtains and walls that deceivers hide behind online. The trend is to teach our students how to look deeper into intent and reveal the lies and false information being fed to them. This really interests me and I can see where it is a beneficial skill for every student to possess.

Rationale- Videos are often good ways to switch up the ways lessons are taught and to capture student attention. Sites like VideoAnt and EdPuzzle allow you to choose/upload videos and add-in annotations, questions, etc. You can add-in notes or questions anywhere in the video you'd like. As the students are watching, the video will pause and they will see your notes and questions. With EdPuzzle (not 100% sure with VideoAnt) the video will not continue until the question has been answered. I think this is a neat way to have students make sure they're paying attention and getting something out of the video and keep from just sitting there and having their minds wander or go to sleep.

In my intro video, one of the tech trends I wanted to explore further was how to make note-taking and studying more interesting. GoodNotes is one way to do that! You have to have an iPad to do it, but it is an app that allows you to write handwritten notes, annotate PDF documents, search easily through notes that have already been taken, and convert the handwritten notes to text. You can also use iCloud to sync the notes across different devices so students can take them with them, drag and drop other documents, texts, etc., and even use presentation mode to turn the notes into a presentation. This is a very interesting tool to keep note-taking and studying a little more fun and accessible.

Technology changes everyday! There's always a new trend, new update, and the older things are tossed to the side. One of the issues in using technology in the classroom is figuring out how hard you should try to keep up with the trends. If something is a little outdated is working, should you move on to something else, simply because its newer and what everyone at the conferences are talking about? Not to mention the strain it can put on school budgets and the process of teaching students how to use the newer technology and getting them used to it. I always like the saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," but it is up to the teacher to decide how to implement old versus new technology in his/her classroom.

Rationale: Students love to be heard and have input. This can even be seen on Instagram where people can post polls on their stories. By incorporating this into the classroom, students can hear each others opinions and I can quickly get feedback from them as well. I would like to use more programs such as Poll Everywhere and Google Forms to do this. I have used Google Forms to get students feedback some, but Poll Everywhere allows students to see each others responses which I really like and think could be very beneficial. I would also like to explore other apps and programs that allow students to give feedback in real time.

I have had two classes use twitter- one to post homework assignments and another to allow students to ask questions during lectures. I would like to use twitter as a way for my students to reach me for hw questions as well as potentially to blog about what we are learning in class. I am unsure what this would look like in various subjects that I could potentially be teaching. I'd like to research more how other teachers effectively make use of this social media platform in their classes.
