Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Young Adult Fiction, Young Adult Literature.
Link: The Glittering Court Series, Book 1 by Richelle Mead · OverDrive: ebooks, audiobooks, and videos for libraries and schools
The first chapter starts with “I’d never planned on stealing someone else’s life” which sparks curiosity in a reader’s mind and draws them to read more and making the audience a reader. In the first two paragraphs of the first chapter, it is seen that the main character was from a fallen noble family and readers could notice through the words that unlike the rest she was different, and she wants more than a normal noble life. The main character is just like Christopher Columbus because she is about to take a big risk in her life. The risk she is about to take is one that is deadly and could cause the life of others involved. There were a lot of plot twist and the way Richelle Mead was able to fit everything together in one giant detailed puzzle was amazing. Every chapter had a purpose, and the character development was good too. I think most people could relate with the book. The part I liked the most was when she pretended that everything was fine but within, she was planning her escape plan which was amusing and true because sometimes it is best to think rather than act. I cannot stand being forced to be undermined by something or someone like the main character was, I rather make my own way.

The Unwanted: Stories of Syrian Refugees by Don Brown. Nicole Mensah.

Brown depicts moments of the traumatic horror of the ongoing Syrian refugee crisis. The book starts off with a group of teenage boys writing graffiti on a wall in Southern Syria, and how the boys were arrested and viscously tortured. This sparked a protest for their freedom, which doesn't go well because the authoritarian government in Syria retaliates against protesters, and punishes anyone who challenges them. This sets the tone for the whole book. He sheds light on all of the stories of those who survived. The book serves as a testament to the bravery and resilience of the refugees, and to spark the readers mind of the oppression Syrians were and are still going through. The target audience for this book would be those who take interest to injustice and oppression.

I would give this book a 4-5. It was overall a really good book. I wish they went into a little more detail in some areas.

Link to project-

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1meMbK0C_StbTJBml_HSs2YjwOPeqxJiJMQdzEbajr-c/edit

Link to book-

https://catalog.bcpl.lib.md.us/polaris/search/title.aspx?ctx=1.1033.0.0.6&pos=1&cn=963857

The chapter starts by talking about how obu has just become the first position in his class examination and then moves on to describe the kind of family he was in. The author explains how he is the only boy out of seven children and explained the name of each child to show how each girls name's meaning was only a way to hold out faith and anxiety they had in awaiting his coming. The book is set in the igbo land during 1918, there is only one main character which is Obuechina Maduabuchi but there were a lot of side characters also. The genre for the book is fiction and I think audience would really enjoy the book because even though it was made in an old setting, we still face most of the problems that happened in the book, for example: patriarchy, corruptions, people in power abusing titles and so much more. The ending of the book was quiet shocking because the person who tried to change the patriarchy is the last person one would ever assume would do it.
