When I struggle in class, I would ask my teacher or classmate for help. First, I would try to figure out what I'm struggling with by myself. If that fails I would ask a classmate if they can help me. If that also didn't work out, I would ask my teacher to help explain what I am struggling with. Usually, that is enough for me to start understanding the topic more. Sometimes, when I need extra practice, I would study more on that topic and spend more time on that topic at home to get used to it. When I do that, I start to see patterns in the topic, which helps me better understand and struggle less in that class.

word count: 121

If I am struggling with a certain section in math, I will, look at the examples and see how it is done. When I see what it is like then I will try to solve a problem like that one. Also, I find it difficult to retain the information that is brought up in class because the information doesn’t stick in my brain when taking quizzes, working on classwork, or even having class discussions. That thing is if you can do all the stuff you went over with the tutor but without their help in any way or get close to that. It is also important to not just know how to do the work but understand why that is the answer or why maybe that isn’t the answer. I feel like I struggle the most with math because when I do the work my teacher gives us during class I know how to do it and complete it to get an easy A for that assignment. I think it went well because my old teachers and tutors would teach me new methods and ways to solve problems that sort of just stuck with me and made math easier for me. I eventually got so much better that I only needed to go to tutoring if I wanted to check my answers or have them help me study for a test.

Word Count : 88

My friend Rylee and I signed up for math tutoring over the summer so we can prepare for math 2 honors and stay well-educated in math.

Yes, I have tried reaching out to a teacher for help. I usually go right after class if it is a short question or if we have nutrition or lunch right after that class. Otherwise, if I need a deeper understanding of something, I would go before or after school to ask my teacher. Usually, they provide me with a very good understanding and I feel more confident with the topic we are learning after they further explain to me about it. Sometimes, when I don't understand the way they taught me the topic, I would keep asking questions in class when we are still talking about that topic. Practicing and studying further at home also helps me better understand the topic.

word count: 122

A tutoring session becomes successful when the tutor can assist in a way that makes it easier to understand the concept at hand. For instance, going over some specific problems that have been a common struggle, and being able to work step by step to see how the problems are solved correctly. Additionally, I think that the tutor should ask for clarification about what specific problem sets they need assistance with, because the student should only focus on the ones that are challenging to them and not the whole lesson. Therefore, rather than having them memorize all the formulas of the whole lesson, address and emphasize the problems that have been difficult for the student. Word Count: 115

I think it is also very important for them to understand how the subject works or why the answers they are getting are right. They should know the material at hand more in depth than maybe an average student in the class you are taking. This is so they can also know why the answer you are getting are wrong. They should also be good at communicating what they know and not just only understanding it themselves. They should know learning strategies and other ways to help you learn or memorize what you need to know.

Word Count: 125

I have been tutored before and it was during 5th grade. I was tutored for math twice but for short periods of time. Both of the tutoring sessions were groups of students and one of them was a part of my school and the other was outside of school. There were three tutors for the tutoring place outside of school and they were all really nice and really helpful. Tutoring really helped me a lot because I was able to slowly understand the math material I was learning at the time easier.

Word Count: 92

What I believe makes a successful tutoring session is overall just having fun. In a tutoring session you obviously are being taught to learn certain topics that you have struggled with but being able to have at least some fun with it makes it so much easier. Another things that can make a tutoring session successful is having either one or many supportive people surrounding you and cheering you on when you’ve understood fully what you are learning. For me, the best part about tutoring was how they had rewards after you’ve won a raffle every Wednesday and/or Thursday. It really made me want to come back more often and it gave me something to look forward to after I’ve completed an assignment.

Word Count: 124
