I usually don’t need that much help in class to the point I need a tutor. I just ask questions or ask when I can come in and get help on an assignment I am confused about or don’t understand or I wait until I get home to ask my parents because they like to help me out. I often review related textbook sections or search for additional resources online to clarify the concept. If I still don’t understand after these steps, I will then ask the teachers specific questions about whatever it is that is confusing me. I find that discussing the topic with classmates can also be helpful, as hearing different perspectives sometimes makes things clearer. Overall, I try to use a combination of self-study and seeking help from others to overcome challenges in my learning.

I feel like I do not belong in the class because everyone sounds very smart and very educated. There is a lot of reading to do and many paragraphs to write about which I overthink most of the time so I can barely get it done. This class is also a class I procrastinate in the most as well so then I’m very stressed when it comes to turning in assignments.

I was tutored for math twice but for short periods of time. Both of the tutoring sessions were groups of students and one of them was a part of my school and the other was outside of school.  There were three tutors for the tutoring place outside of school and they were all really nice and really helpful. Tutoring really helped me a lot because I was able to slowly understand the math material I was learning at the time easier.

In a tutoring session you obviously are being taught to learn certain topics that you have struggled with but being able to have at least some fun with it makes it so much easier. Another things that can make a tutoring session successful is having either one or many supportive people surrounding you and cheering you on when you’ve understood fully what you are learning. For me, the best part about tutoring was how they had rewards after you’ve won a raffle every Wednesday and/or Thursday. It really made me want to come back more often and it gave me something to look forward to after I’ve completed an assignment.
