• How to proceed and what to do. You should continue to the next stage if you were not born a citizen of the United States or if your citizenship was not immediately given by your parents when you were born. 

• The second step to naturalization is to review and complete your application for naturalization.

• In order to fill out Form N-400, you should read and it doesn't hurt to even study these instructions carefully. You then should gather the paperwork you'll need to prove your eligibility for naturalization.

• Get two passport-style photos taken if you live outside of the US. To help you, you may also check the documented checklist and make sure that you have every document you need and don't forget to overlook anything.

• You can continue the form online and even submit it online.

• You are also able to pay your fees online.

• When these few steps are completed and submitted online you then should then get a receipt sent to you.

• You will receive an appointment reminder from USCIS with the date, time, and location of your biometrics session if you are required to take one.

• At the scheduled time, arrive at the given location.

• Get your fingerprints taken.

• USCIS will set up an interview with you to finish the naturalization process after all the preliminary steps on your application are completed.

• At the time and date given on your appointment notice, you are supposed to and are required to report to the USCIS office.

• Also you should remember to bring the appointment notice with you. 

• If you filled out your form on paper, you should then get your notice in the mail.

• if you filled it out online, you can then access the notice with the same account you used to fill out the form in the first place.

Granted

• If your record shows proof that you qualify for citizenship, USCIS will probably then approve your Form.

Continued

• if you then need to provide evidence and/or your documents, USCIS will then most likely continue your application.

• That is if you do not provide the documents to them they will not continue the application

• Another reason for not continuing the application is if the individual fails the English or Civics tests the first time around.

Denied

• If the documents that you bring with you and they are not correct or eligible or the process to be continued for Naturalization the that individual will be denied at that time.

• If you are then approved by USCIS, you will then be able to participate and take part in the Naturalization Ceremony when ever it is available, if not that day then you should receive an invitation when that next availability is.

• Just because you have completed most of the steps doesn't mean you are quite a U.S Citizen yet.

• You actually aren't a U.S. Citizen until you have fully completed the Oath of Allegiance at the Naturalization Ceremony.
