My initial idea for the bass was a simple on beat rhythm going from B to A and then to G in a similar progression to Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhCXAiNz9Jo (the chord progression in the chorus)
I intended it be quite funky and rhythmic as the stimulus led us to the 3/2 clave, an African drum beat, which Heather utilised on the drums allowing me to form my bass-line around it.
Notes:
B , A and G

Lyrics:
"Everybody now lets join in x2
This is the rhythm of the heartbeat
Now everybody lets join in
Now do you think you can boogie

Walking down the street we go
Moving fast and moving slow
Listening to the song on the radio"

I believe lyrically we used our stimulus well, however i do think we could have improved it out of pure quantity. This is because we wrote lyrics that suited the stimulus well however we didn't write enough so it was hard to distinguish between a chorus and a verse.

Our stimulus for our first week was the conga drum. This could have been interpreted in many ways and the way we chose to represent it was through the link between drumbeats and heartbeats, along with how music and dancing go hand in hand

I thought our performance for the first week was satisfactory as lyrically we represented the stimulus very well.
Sometimes I find that it can be often harder to interpret a stimulus using instruments (depending on the stimulus i.e if its about a very specific topic) as you cant really express words through instruments however i thought that using the 3/2 clave and with the muted guitar and soulful bass-line we fairly accurately represented the stimulus
although i think we could have

Strengths:
Our idea for the link between drumbeats was met as one response from a colleague was that we achieved that goal

Another comment that was given was that there was levels of syncopation which ties into the African style of music we were aiming for

Areas for improvement:
One area to improve was getting our levels right, as the vocalists weren't easily heard. Since we have learnt that its always best to make sure the vocals sit on top of the rest of the instruments.

This performance could be very helpful in the future as if we ever need to make a song for the sheer purpose of dancing or we want to create a very funky, catchy track, we have our first example of us using the 3/2 clave. The syncopated rhythms that go hand in hand with the 3/2 clave make for a highly irresistible song to dance to
