My partner and I got an apartment complex to deliver to. We got the meals assigned to our route and went to our designated place to deliver to. Myself and other Good NeighBEAR volunteers delivered over 100 meals. Delivering those meals made me realize how I take what I have for granted. When I gave each resident their meal(s), each one of them smiled and said, "God bless you". They were blessed to have received something to eat whether they liked it or not. Unlike me, I complain when I don't like what food I have right in front of me. Instead of being thankful for being able to access food, I just start complaining because I don't like it. Therefore, this project showed me that I should be thankful for the ability to purchase food everyday whether I like it or not. There are other people out there who aren't able to have that ability like me. The apartment complex was set up with two big apartment buildings with other little apartment buildings around the bigger buildings. Sound confusing? It was. It took my partner and I about 15 minutes to find the first apartment number. Seeing each resident smile as they received their meal(s) was by far the best reward during my experience. As well as to broaden our knowledge on things we may have not known. Volunteering for organizations that help others shows us that we may take what we have for granted.
