Act 1:

• The furious father of Hermia

• Wants his daughter to marry Demetrius, whom has asked for Hermia's hand

• Asks for the King's opinion on the matter, who sides with him

• Declares he will take action according to Athenian law if she chooses to not marry Demetrius

The Lovers Plot

Act 1:

• Has 3 options: to die, to marry, or to be a nun

Act 2:

• Ran into the woods with Lysander and refuses to sleep near him due to her modesty.

• Ends up sleeping on the opposite side of the space.

• Abandoned by Lysander in her sleep.

• Awakens from a frightening dream and finds that Lysander is missing.

"Ay me, for pity! What a dream was here! Lysander. look how I do quake with fear. Methought a serpent eat my heart away, and you sat smiling at his cruel prey. " (2.2.149-152)

Act 3:

• Hermia follows Demetrius around, accusing him of murdering Lysander because she is in denial that he could of left on his own.

• Finds Helena, Demetrius, and Lysander in the woods, and Lysander about why he left.

• Accuses Helena of seducing Lysander and stealing his love. Tries to attack Helena but is stopped by Lysander.

• Is led off into the forest by Puck, until she eventually falls asleep

Act 4:

• Is found along with Lysander, Demetrius, and Helena by Egeus, Theseus, and Hippolyta

• Follows behind Theseus and Hippolyta, back to Athens, where she will marry Lysander at their ceremony.

Act 5:

• Now married to Lysander and no longer has to worry about her father's wishes

• enjoys the Rude Mechanicals play alongside her lover, friends, and the duke and duchess of Athens

Act 1:

• Lord Lysander, the lover of Hermia

• Argues against Hermia and Demetrius' marriage, claiming he is as righteous as he is

• Comes up with the plan to flee from Athens and to escape to his aunt's home in order to avoid Athenian law.

• Fell for Demetrius, who she was courted by but no longer holds his interest

• Wants to regain Demetrius' love

• Plans to tell Demetrius of Hermia and Lysander's plan to flee from Athens, thinking this will make Demetrius fall for her again

• Shares a dialogue where she talks about how love blinds people, and leads to irrational decisions

Act 3:

• Is given a recount of events from Puck, who also announces that Titania has fallen for a monster (Nick Bottom)

• Realizes Puck's mistake with the potions when he sees Hermia and Demetrius in the woods

• Makes a plan with Puck on how to fix what has happened with the lovers, says he will use a plant to reverse the spell and make the events that happened seem like a dream

• Blesses the marriages at the play following the wedding alongside Theseus

Act 2:

• Introduced as one Oberon's jester

• Warns the fairies to have Titania leave the scene, for she is having a lovers quarrel with Oberon

• After Titania and Oberon argue he is sent out by Oberon to retrieve a flower hit by Cupid's arrow

• Puck returns with the flower, and is tasked by Oberon to use part of it on an Athenian man

• Uses the potion on the wrong man; he mistakes Lysander for Demetrius
