It is my first time entering school in America and I am anxious especially since it is college and everything was new to me. When I was studying in the Philippines, I had a hard time expressing my thoughts on paper, I can't construct sentences and essays efficiently. I rarely got compliments about my work at school which I think made me felt to be scared in writing. I always tend to get negative feedback from my teachers or critiques which I also understand that will help me to improve but I felt like it discouraged me. In my opinion, the anxiousness I felt also helped me to do good in this class, and applied what I learned in every session. Exploring a problem based on another person's experience may be challenging to cover but I am glad that I did it. For my writing project 2, I did a journalistic format where I featured different points of life of my subjects and provided some research information to support that the story happened in real life. For writing project 2, I am the author, but I am telling a story about another person's life based on their own perspective. I think I used more code meshing in this project than in my 2 writing projects because it makes more sense as I interview my mother who is a Filipino. I think that code meshing is also a way to engage the audience because it will help them to be more diverse and there's nothing wrong with including non-English language in your work. For my writing project 3, I decided to derive my topic from my writing project 2 because I wanted to explore and learn more about child labor in my home country. Although it is from a different country, I hoped that my readers will realize that child labor still happens. Also, I learned how to identify if the content is credible or not. Although most of our assignments and projects need critical thinking in reading, I think working on writing project 3 challenged my critical thinking in reading the most. The process of researching for sources and identifying if the information is helpful. For me, the literature circle in my writing project is my favorite. I admire goldie's comment about my work and suggestions because they helped me to develop and identify the parts in my writing project one that is lacking. When I provided my first draft to our circle, I felt like I am missing something in my conclusion part, but I can't identify what it is. On the last part of my essay, Goldie provided me feedback: "I like how you ended the story with the theme and a summary. I feel like you could have related the last paragraph to what your mother told you in the beginning about reading books because she is the one that jumpstarted the story." I then realized that is what I am missing in my conclusion! I always check if the information provided is evidence-based). When citing, in this course we are engaged in to use of MLA format. the MLA format is new to my knowledge because I was more exposed to using the APA format in our research papers during high school. the MLA format is not complicated, unlike the APA format. Through reading Anzaldua, Vargas, and Young's work for our literature circles,  I realized that there is no "superior" language to what I used to think before. I was taught before that when submitting a writing project, you can't your own language and it must be constructed in formal English. The way I thought that English is the superior language made me feel anxious to write and to be judged by other people.
