Blue zones better known as the secret of longevity, these are the places in the world where the longest-lived people live. According to Michel Poluin, who is the founder of Blue Zones, in this place the awesome percentage of people aged 100 or over has more presence in society; for example in Okinawa, the islands at the southern end of Japan are one of the world's ¨Blue Zones¨ and also have historically been known for longevity, called the land of immortals.

Okinawa, a prefecture of Japan, is known for having one of the highest life expectancies in the world. The residents of Okinawa are known for their healthy lifestyle, diet, and strong social connections, which are often credited for their longevity. As of that time, the average life expectancy in Okinawa was around 84 years for men and 90 years for women. Also Okinawa is a prefecture located in the southern part of Japan, made up of a main island (also named Okinawa) and numerous smaller islands. The region has a subtropical climate, which means it generally experiences warm temperatures throughout the year. The environment of Okinawa is characterized by its lush greenery, beautiful beaches, and clear blue waters. The region is known for its coral reefs and marine biodiversity, making it a popular destination for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. The waters around Okinawa are often referred to as the "Blue Cave" due to their vibrant blue color.

In conclusion, the Okinawa blue zone serves as a remarkable example of how lifestyle, diet, and environment can collectively contribute to extended lifespans and improved well-being. The combination of a plant-based diet, regular physical activity, strong social connections, and stress reduction techniques offers valuable lessons that can be integrated into our own lives. By emulating these practices, we have the potential to enhance our longevity and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Blue zones are specific places in the world where lifespan is longer because they don’t suffer degenerative diseases as the rest of the world, reaching more than a hundred years of life. Okinawa, an island in Japan, is one of the five blue zones in the world where people are historically known for longevity, the same that happens in some other southern islands in the country. Many investigations related to this topic have been made since 2004 and they all are collected in the web page “Blue Zones”, being an official source of information. The Okinawans’ longevity is an interesting aspect which needs to be talked about because it is influenced by the habits they have developed.

As in the rest of blue zones located around the world, Okinawan people are known because they can reach more than one hundred years old. This typical aspect of their lives is because of the habits these southern japanese people have developed. Also the biodiversity that is present in these islands, helps the environment to be healthy and good for the people who can be more connected with nature. Related to their diet, it is plant-based because of all the nutrients they can obtain from them. You can find stir-fried vegetables, like Goya, sweet potatoes and the most known Tofu, also including big quantities of soya in their meals. Also, these people do not include much pork in their diet, because they consider it special for some moments.

Experts also stated that Okinawans have established a deep connection between their lifestyle and their environment, making them live longer. They have the advantage of having a cleaner environment to perform their daily activities, from the basic ones such as walking, to the active activities such as gardening. Also, these people are known because of “moai” groups, where all of them can get support between each other and help them to live longer too. So, all these activities make their lives unique and different from the rest of the world, evidencing a vigorous and positive attitude at all times.

In conclusion, the lifestyle of the Okinawa people, extremely related with their diet and friendship, and their clean environment help them to expand their lifetime. The main learning from these people is that trying to keep doing the activities we are used to, helps us to keep in good health and live longer. Also, it is better to stop bad habits because they don’t help us in any way. All the world must try to replicate Okinawas’ and all the blue zones lifestyles in order to expand our lifespan.
