The protagonist in this book is castle nickname ghost. He is into basketball but when he challenges an elite sprinter to a race and wins he wants to try track but his past is kind of horrific and filled with anger so his mom made him a deal no anger or hurtful things to people and you can be on the track team. His personality is cynical, and aggressive, but sometimes sweet and kind he’s 11 and he is very poor so he doesn’t have very nice clothes and shoes.

I would think the antagonist in this book would be the track team coach Otis. He caused the conflict telling castle to stop watching and interrupting the track teams practices but castle wanted to run with them so the coach asked castle if he thought he could beat the best kid on the team and castle raced him and beat him by a couple of seconds. The coach’s personality is cocky, nice, depressed. The coach was an Olympic athlete and won the Olympics in track but his dad stopped that from happening. He’s an adult with a family of his own and loves track and on the side he’s a taxi driver.

The main problem in the book is his past his dad was not a very nice man and since his dad went to jail that left his mom and him nothing. So when he wants to join track his mom thought about the money and how much it’s going to cost

Resolution : it was solved by the coach wanting him on the team and he would give castle a ride to and from there before school and after. And the mom and castle made a promise if he had one more bad behavior at school he was off of the team.
