    Why: Wrote Ghost Boys, a challenged book in libraries. I think it brings up an interesting dynamic that our patrons might be interested in connecting with the story. Also its an important message and story that can be presented to reluctant readers as a "sports" book.
    What: I used iMovie
    Different: There are pre-built trailers for iMovie, I used those. but they have very specific themes and music. Next time I'll choose a theme and pick a book based on that theme. It was hard going the other way around and I'm not skilled enough with iMovie timing to build from scratch.

    I chose this book because my daughter's teacher recommended it for my struggling reader! Malala's story is one that inspired my middle school students- this book relates her story to a younger audience. It contains a strong theme regarding the power of one's voice to affect change.
    I would use this book trailer as a part of a genre study on memoir/autobiography, a unit on narrative writing, and part of a book trailer series to inspire independent choice reading.
    I used Biteable to explore a new-to-me video creator.     I chose this book because while teaching middle school, I saw a lot of LGBTQ children struggling with their identities and this book is an accessible source of hope and information for these kids. There are no sex scenes or inappropriate content, it simply gives the perspective of a trans elementary aged student. I also think this book is a great way for all types of students to see the perspective of someone who may not be like them and to gain empathy and understanding. 

    I used Animoto to create this video. It was very easy to use! 

    Next time, I would advocate for the paid version of Animoto because it has amazing features!

    I picked this book because I am very into multicultural literature and have not seen much about the struggles that Asian immigrants in America faced during the 1990s. This book is a perfect example of the discrimination this now "model minority" faced not even 30 years ago and many still face today. This is also a great book on perseverance and hope and how one can weather any storm with enough hope and kindness.

    I picked this book because children will love the suspense, gore, and humor of this story.  The narrator does well with guiding and giving commentary to the reader so it’s not too frightening. This book is about the strength of children and learning through trial and error. Despite age and experience, the main characters are able to mature and persevere. This book can be empowering for children. 

    I used the Powtoon platform to make the video and I uploaded it to Youtube. I like Powtoon because it was easy to use and it had helpful features. I would use this again. I might pay to use it next time.

    I chose this book because it's a great multicultural title! It shows a young girl discovering her heritage while also dealing with real world problems. The issues might be kind of dark (mother's alcoholism, custody battles) but these are real things kids go through. It has lighter side, as well. It shows the true meaning of family and offers insight on how to speak up for yourself.

    I used Powtoon. I would use a more sophisticated platform next time. Perhaps iMovie, after seeing everyone else's great trailers.

    This trailer is meant to be a kind of "entryway of the library" loop video!     This book really stood out to me when browsing the NC Kids Library. I appreciated the illustrations and the sparse yet meaningful text. I loved how such a short read could carry a powerful message to children about needing to feel listened to, and in turn, being a good listener. Kids and adults alike usually listen with the intent to respond -- to react and help -- yet often, the speaker just needs a pair of ears (be they bunny ears or otherwise). 

    I used Adobe Spark and this came together really easily.     I chose this book because it is the first in a series that turned my reluctant reader into a reader. We hadn't heard of it before he discovered it at Barnes and Noble one day, and I couldn't buy the books fast enough to keep up with him. I wanted to share that excitement with other kids.
    I used Adobe spark to create my book trailer and it worked really well. I had tried imovie and powtoon and had only grown frustrated by the process, but Adobe Spark was really simple. In retrospect, I wish I had chosen a book with more pictures and color to bring the kids in. 
    I would like to be able to add book trailers to our morning announcements in our Media Monday segment, this will give me the opportunity to showcase a variety of books in a way that is exciting for the kids.

    I chose this book because of the message teaches children it is okay to be scared sometimes. I think that adults always try to act brave around children but we forget that children do get scared and need to know that fear isn't necessarily a bad feeling. 

    For my platform I used the Video Editor app available on Microsoft 10. I chose this because I have never used it and honestly have very little experience with video software in general. Making this trailer gave me a lot more confidence and I think next time I will try something that allows for more customization of each slide in the video. 

    This video is definitely going to be put into my portfolio for next semester to showcase all the things I have done and learned in the program. I am so proud of how this came out and I'm excited to make more book trailers in the future when I am employed as a librarian :)

    I thought that this book was a good book for Halloween, since it has to do with growing pumpkins. It also shows the life cycle of pumpkins, and showing how to care for the pumpkins when they are growing.

    I think that this is a good book to use for October, or talking about the life cycle of plants. This is also a good book for talking about patience and starting early on things.

    I used Animoto for this project, because it seemed like the easiest site to use for this. I had never used Animoto before, but it turned out to be a good site to use.

    I chose this book because I love everything about Australia and I'd want my students to know about my love for it too! This book is a brilliant introduction to many of the natural landmarks and famous places on the continent. Sure, many of these places would be more familiar to Aussie students but that doesn't mean I can't pique the interest of some of these small town American kiddos. 
    I used iMovie to make the trailer and man, did it take awhile. Perhaps I'll give Animoto a try next time. I also need to give vocal recordings a go as well. This have given me a good confidence boost when it comes to editing projects such as this
    This will be a piece for the portfolio for sure.

    The Graveyard Book is by Neil Gaiman and is suitable for ages 8 and up. I really enjoyed this book myself and I think students would get into it because it is an interesting setting and they tend to love "creepy" things like Goosebumps.

     This book is great for October, the fall, and any time you want a mystery that also has a quirky cast of characters, wholesome moments, and philosophical ideas. 

    I used Adobe Spark and if I had to try something else, I would use Animoto. I would probably also include voice over, but it is hard with barking dogs and interruptions. The text is small if you don't make the video larger.

    I chose this one because it's a good option for kids who love JK Rowling or Neil Gaiman (both of whom were strongly influenced by Le Guin's books). If you fell in love with Hogwarts and need a new school of magic, this one is for you. She even goes into how the magic system works, which I thought was super cool, and something I wished the Harry Potter books had more of. Le Guin is a titan of literature whose books for kids get unfortunately overlooked in favor of her (also excellent) adult books. This is a good one for advanced readers; the story is subtle and Le Guin isn't afraid to challenge kids with some pretty sophisticated writing and a the sort of subtle and thoughtful storytelling that's rare in children's literature. The video was made with Adobe Spark and posted to YouTube.     I chose this book because it celebrates and honors indigenous people and positively depicts and
     emphasizes the rich history of American Indians. The book portrays a modern representation of American Indians that is authentic and true to the culture described while simultaneously presenting themes that are relatable to people of all groups.
    Although we may have different cultures and customs, we still have commonalities that bring us together and connect us in relatable ways.
     The family in the book lives in an apartment; they do not live in  tee pees. It is close to the reservation which affords them the opportunity to get there easily. One of the pictures in the book shows a baby lying in crib under a mobile. Children can relate to this from their own pictures as a baby or pictures of siblings, cousins, or friends. 
    This book gives a window into the history of the Navajo people and allows the reader to be introduced to the traditions and customs of people from various countries. The reader gets to learn how people in other cultures celebrate the arrival of a baby. At the end of the book, the reader learns about the traditions families have when babies are born into families from Japan, China, Australia, Nigeria, Ancient Greece, and the Western Pacific. They also learn about how people of different religions celebrate the arrival of babies in families that are  Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish Reform and Progressive families. 

    I used Animoto to create the book trailer and I uploaded it to YouTube. 
     Before this project, I had not used Animoto and  I wanted to challenge myself to explore a new platform. I signed up for the free version. It was easy to use, and did not take long to export or download.
