Dia de los muertos

Yesterday was the day of the dead or in Spanish "El dia de los muertos". I was able to go to a friends house on this special day where they showed me this alter that was created in their home. I was able to see the love and kindness that there family shared for their loved ones, I saw their dad, cousins, and a great lineage of people here that I would have never been able to see or even know about. That day really teaches us to honor our dead and make sure they aren't suffering and are able to go to heaven in peace. I really feel as though this has brought me closer to even my own dead loved ones and ones that are still with me today and I am appreciative of what I have and grateful for what is to come and I really am thankful for all the families that showed up to see and worship this alter like I have this is an experience like no other.

Today I was able to attend the crowning of my 15 year old cousin Venessa. At this special event I was able to take a picture of her beautiful tiara, and at this event it is to know crown the young lady from a little girl to a young lady a woman sorta say. I really valued going here because of the quisine they served you can never go wrong with pollo al pastor they had some amazing tacos there with an amazing soup to go with it. I honestly can't even believe what an honor it was to see her father crown her to shape, become and form a new woman. The event itself was in a big ceremonial hall where lots of people go to party and enjoy there time while talking to the lady family and drinking some nice cold coke a cola. Overall it was a great experience and I am so glad again to have been there all the way to the end because I couldn't wait for my 2000's throwbacks where everyone got up and had a good time.

Last year I took a trip to Rio the central of Brazils carnival this image above me is one of the Floats that are one of many in this grand parade. I feel like I took this picture because these floats are the biggest attractions in this festival of stories. They hold the dancers which holds the narrative and stories of why the carnival is held and it is because it is celebration 40 days before easter before Jesus was born this was a period of joy and relief in that time to see that light was parading threw the streets. I really enjoyed this grand festival it was a worthwhile experience and couldn't have even described how amazing unless I was there myself I can't wait for another huge carnival like this one it was amazing.

This day is "Race day" the day that in Mexico is a recognition of all the different indigenous and European heritage in Mexico. This day also represents the freedom from the homage that the Mexicans had to pay Christopher Columbus. I show you this picture because in the Mexican culture Aztecs where a headpiece such as peacock feathers on their head which represents freedom from what they were paying to Christopher columbus and that they could now branch out and understand the heritage their in the new country.

The carnival of Trinidad is famous for its participants colorful costumes and its performances by the participants and extremely traditional and flashy dances. I was able to participate in a live video conference with someone at the carnival and it was an amazing show of talent and training to perform such unique dances. I love what I am showing you above here it is a costume I was able to buy from my friend at the carnival and It looks so great I cant wait to try and visit one day to experience this myself. The carnival was told to be shown as freedom from slaves who were starving from a fast in the 17th century.

Takanakuy is a annual fighting festival where they participate in dancing and fighting to end old conflicts. Another reason is to have peace revolving around the community year round by letting anger out during the Takanakuy. Above is a picture of the belt used regularly in the fighting event of the festival. I feel as though this idea itself is great in resolving conflict and being friendly within the community to resolve tension and I hope to one day spectate a festival as such in Peru.
