When Voices Move: Turning Talk into Change

As Filipinos, we have the right to express our thoughts, opinions, and beliefs freely to the public; however, most times it is all just talk and no action, no impact, and no change. My group’s blog titled, “When Voices Move: Turning Talk into Change”, advocates for creating an impact using the voices of the people. Words have just as much power as actions, only if the people knew how to use them properly. My group wrote this blog with the intention of showing people that their voices can be heard and can make a change. Within the blog we mention several accounts where words held impact over their issues. Many times, it was a group of people, never just one voice. It shows that in order to make a change in society, it takes more than just one person. Following that was the 6 ways to turn talk into change.

In order to make a change to something, one must address the issue first; people should be made aware of the issue in order to make a difference. Once you’ve established the issue, you can build community unity, the stronger the community, the stronger your voices are. As normal individuals, you can create a bigger impact by holding those in higher power accountable for their actions, this ensures they will do something to actually resolve the situation. We can create real change and raise awareness by keeping everyone informed. Most people refuse to change because they are misinformed, knowledge brings clarity. To make waves in the world, one must live by their words. If you advocate for something, do not just claim you advocate for it, do something about it. Live by your beliefs, otherwise they are simply words and mean nothing. The most important thing in creating change is to never give up. Once you’ve given up on the cause, you will lose momentum which delays the change.

As a student I am limited to certain boundaries on creating an impact, however I can make a change by keeping people informed, contributing to organizations and missions to help others in need, and leading others to follow me on the same path. Over the summer, me and my mother ran several marathons that served to help a cause; from women’s cancer research to animal shelters in need of funding. I also intend on using my position as a Marvel Organization officer to inspire change in my fellow classmates and peers by creating events and programs that not only advocate for change, but to actually do something about it.

As the saying goes, “the pen is mightier than the sword”. Our words are what spark change in the world. It's one of the most powerful things a person holds within them. Any ordinary person can make a change if they understood the power of their voice. The power of one voice can spark a flame but the power of a hundred voices can light up the world.

The first performance output focused on the uses of productivity tools and how they can transform business operations by addressing common challenges in task management, website development, and client presentations. The proposal centered on three main platforms: Notion, Replit, and Pitch, each offering unique features to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and professional engagement.

Notion was presented as an all-in-one digital workspace capable of replacing multiple fragmented tools. It allows users to manage tasks, build knowledge bases, and track projects through calendars and timelines. Its collaborative features, such as real-time editing, comments, and flexible sharing permissions, make it an effective tool for teams to stay organized and aligned.

Replit, on the other hand, serves as a powerful browser-based coding environment. It supports multiple programming languages and enables developers to work together live, much like Google Docs but for coding. With instant hosting, built-in version control, AI-assisted coding, and project templates, Replit reduces barriers in creating websites and applications, making development more accessible and streamlined.

Pitch was introduced as a modern alternative to traditional presentation software. Its sleek templates, real-time collaboration features, and cloud-based access allow for visually polished and interactive presentations. Additional functions such as live presentation streaming, media embedding, version history, and analytics help teams engage clients more effectively and track the impact of their presentations.

Overall, the integration of these three productivity tools offers a comprehensive solution to business struggles. Notion organizes and simplifies workflows, Replit empowers dynamic web and app development, and Pitch elevates client communication through engaging and professional presentations. Together, they create a unified ecosystem that improves efficiency, collaboration, and overall productivity.

In Empowerment Technologies (E-Tech), I have developed skills that are both practical and applicable in real life. One of the most important areas of learning is the use of productivity tools such as Notion, Replit, and Pitch. These platforms taught me how to manage tasks, organize information, collaborate online, and create professional outputs. Notion improved my organization and project tracking, Replit gave me experience in coding and teamwork, and Pitch enhanced my ability to design and deliver presentations effectively.

Another significant lesson was learning how to use Blogger as a platform for self-expression and communication. Through creating and publishing blog entries, I realized how technology can be used not only for academic or professional purposes but also as a tool for sharing ideas and connecting with others. Blogging improved my writing, creativity, and digital presence, while also teaching me to be mindful of responsible online behavior.

These lessons go beyond the classroom. In school, I can apply them to manage assignments, group projects, and presentations more efficiently. In personal life, blogging allows me to express thoughts and interests, while productivity tools help me organize schedules and goals. Looking ahead, these skills will be essential in the workplace, where digital collaboration, content creation, and communication are highly valued.

Empowerment Tech has also taught me the importance of adaptability. Technology is always evolving, and being open to learning new tools is necessary for growth. More than just technical skills, this subject has encouraged me to be creative, resourceful, and responsible in using technology.

Overall, E-Tech has helped me develop digital literacy and confidence in using different platforms, preparing me not just for academic success but also for future opportunities in a technology-driven world.
