• Some speculate that he suffered from cumulative lead poisoning, as he crushed and painted with a lot of white lead. 

The cause of deafness
Deafness marked the life and work of Goya. Now it is known that the cause was lead poisoning, a disease caused by poisoning of lead derivatives. 

Considered the most important Spanish artist of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries

Francisco de Goya's artistic career lasted approximately between 1762, the year he painted a reliquary for the parish church of Fuendetodos, and 1827, the date of his last works (La lechera de Bordeaux). During this more than half a century as a painter he produced around seven hundred paintings, two hundred and eighty etchings and a thousand drawings. 

• Some biographers say that he worked as an acrobat or for a Russian diplomat.
• Other biographers say that he planned to whisk away from a convent a beautiful nun whom he’d fallen in love with 

Goya played the guitar. Among his hobbies was also dancing, bullfighting and fencing.  
In 2006, in the transfer of "Niños del carretón" for an exhibition at the Guggenheim in New York, the painting was stolen. A few days later he was located by the FBI.
