As a man you are also expected to be athletic and remain active. To accommodate to both of these norms I typically wear sports clothing, such as shorts and sweat pants. The locker rooms acted as an echo chamber for hegemonic masculinity to spread. Objectification of women, repression of emotions, and a culture of arrogance was created and spread to almost everyone on the team. This limited what types of spaces I was allowed to enter since my youth. My father never let me play with my sister or any of her toys. I was only allowed to play with video games or toys intended for boys. When I was caught playing with my sister or any of her toys I would get scolded and have my toys taken from me.
