         <description><![CDATA[<div>At Washington Elementary School to honor Indigenous Peoples’ Day, fifth grade students learned about the First Nations of the PNW and totem poles, monuments that represent and commemorate ancestry, histories, people, or events. Classes created totem poles that represented themselves, then assembled the individual totem poles to create a classroom totem pole.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

As their website says, it’s a way for us to participate and commemorate National Native American Heritage Month.  I have even had (Native American) students make their own moccasins and wear them on Rock Your Mocs Day!</div>]]></description>
