They tend to dress up for social events and dress down for work. Clothing choices are often influenced by what is trending on social media.<br>     Traditional costumes (Bunad) are specific to each region but worn on special occasions. Ex: weddings, national and local holidays.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>     Norwegians do not wait to be introduced to someone and take the initiative themselves. Shaking hands is a formal and informal greeting, where business handshakes are firm and short while personal handshakes are longer and warmer. In a personal setting, an additional cheek touch and hug after a handshake is common.<br>     Everyday greetings consist of a casual Hei! (Hi) or God morgen (Good morning). A formal greeting is God dag (Good day). People greeting others with a close social  bond for the first time in a while say Takk for sist (Thanks for the last time). Another common greeting is Nei så hyggelig (Oh, how nice!) which means "It has been a long time! I´m glad I ran into you."<br>    Most people tend to use first names once they have been introduced by first and last name. Even students may call teachers by their first name. <br><br></div>]]></description>

Chewing gum is considered highly inappropriate in a public setting. On public transportation, people give up seats for the elderly, pregnant women, and disabled. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>  Breakfast and lunch typically consist of cheese or ham sandwiches with milk or coffee. Meat and vegetables in addition to a soup and dessert are prepared for dinner. In Norway, dinner is commonly eaten around 3 or 4 p.m. They have a fourth meal called the evening meal (kveldsmat) later in the evening for snacking. These snacks consist primarily of bread with cheese, jam, or ham. Another alternative is the popular ready-made frozen foods.<br>     Ethnic foods such as Thai, Chinese, and Indian are increasing in popularity, but typically have a Norwegian twist. <br>     <br>     Tacos are the most popular dinner on Friday's, when friends are invited over to make them. There is even a term to describe this which means Friday taco: fredagstaco.  Norwegian tacos typically consist of: a tortilla, barley, meat, and veggies.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>     Dating and sexual relationships are very casual and socially acceptable for teenagers. Couples tend to participate in expensive activities (ex: buying gifts, going to nice restaurants, etc.). People of varying ages meet through online dating. <br>    Most Norwegians expect to get married. On average, men marry at age 34 and women at age 32. Most couples live together before getting married or even instead of it. Same sex marriage was legalized in 2009. Divorce is accepted and about 40% of marriages in Norway end in it. <br>    Common law does not exist as a form of marriage, but couples who live together can sign a cohabitation contract which legally regulates certain aspects of the relationship. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>    Apartment and townhouses are common in urban areas while most metropolitan areas are residential with single family wood homes. It has two or three bedrooms, one to two bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, basement, and an attic. Most Norwegians tend to buy their living space as they believe it is a personal investment. <br>    Wood and brick are the most common building materials for homes. Roofs have a steep angle and the home is typically built on a concrete foundation.<br>    Norwegians normally decorate and fix up their own homes. They typically have conservative taste with wood, leather and wool.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>    Most Norwegian life cycle principles are represented in the Lutheran church. Almost every Norwegian practices religious ceremonies for birth, marriage, and death.<br>    Most Norwegians baptize newborns and have godparents.<br>     Teenagers get confirmed at age 15 and admits young people into the Lutheran Church. Before being confirmed, teenagers take classes about morals and values. When confirmed, (at a church or concert arena) participants give speeches and sing and dance. They also receive diplomas. <br>     Russefeiring is a celebration of high school graduation and a rite of passage into adulthood that lasts two weeks. There are party buses and parades, parties and drinking. Participants (called russ) are identified by russebukse (russ pants) that cannot be washed during the party period. The celebration ends on May 17, Constitution Day. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>    Most Norwegians are physically active. Skiing is extremely popular and many children begin at a young age. Snowboarding is popular among teenagers. Soccer is the most popular sport among women and men and children learn this early as well. <br>    Schools do not organize their own sports teams but each community has sports for competition. Most families are actively involved and everyone gets participation chances for fairness.<br> Most Norwegians love the outdoors where they can bike or walks in the woods on Sunday afternoons. Dances, outdoor activities, and the movies are common among teenagers. <br>    Fishing, swimming, boating, and hiking are common outdoor activities.  </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>  At 18, Norwegians are legal adults and typically move out of their parents home at this age. Military service is mandatory for men at age 19 and now women (since 2015). But this is not completely mandatory because Norway has only so many spots for their military. Young people commonly travel or work for a year before attending a university.<br>     When death occurs, funerals are typically held in churches, and bodies are buried in a coffin after a service. Cremation is not common. Certain associations perform non-religious burials but these are not common. </div>]]></description>
