One piece of evidence is that the portulaca, (The smaller softer seed), dies off due to a drought, or the lack of rain, So all the is left is the Tribulus seed, (The bigger harder seed). So in November 1977, there are now 0 Portulaca seeds per square meter, and there are still 6 Tribulus seeds per square meter.

Another piece of evidence is that the population of the Medium Ground Finch with the smaller beak went down but the population of the Medium Ground Finch with the larger beak went up. In November 1977 there were 186 Ground Finches, in January 1978 there were 93 Ground Finches, and finally in March of 1978, there was a total of 189 Ground Finches, all of which were most likely largely beaked.

The last piece of evidence is that the beak length and depth increased by quite a bit. The average beak length in '76 was 10.7 mm long, and the average beak depth was 9.65 mm. The average beak length in "78 was 11.61 mm long, and the average beak depth in '78 was 10.55 mm.

Reasoning

Some reasoning to support my evidence is that since the small softer seeds died off, that only left the larger harder seeds, which allow the Medium Ground Finches with longer beaks to be able to break and eat the seeds very easily while the smaller birds cannot break the large hard seeds because their beaks would snap if not shatter. So because the smaller seed died off the population of the smaller beaked finch went down, while the larger beaked finch population grew because they had longer and stronger beaks. This means that over time, the overall population of the Medium Ground Finches with larger beaks would overtake the Medium Ground Finches with smaller beaks.
