Title : Moving soundly
Question: What kind of sounds can you hear in your surrounding?
Context:This activity was conducted outside in backyard .
Activity is for: 3-5 years.
Teacher: Nasro
Documenter: Cathy
The age group of the learners:
Adults
The purpose of the learning experience:
The date or time period:
Wednesday 13th June 2021,
7pm
The learning prompt or project:

Visual Learning

The size of the group:
5
Materials used:
Paper
Pen
Reflection:
In this activity, I asked to participate to spend some time in their backyard, to go outside for a walk for 2 mins, and to focus on the sound that you can hear. Therefore, we came and shared our responses, everyone experienced different sounds, for example, the sounds of train tracks, heavy wind, loud cars on the road. The purpose of this experience was for children to recognize different sounds and to compare the sounds they hear. It supports and stimulates cognitive development in children.

Children can express themselves better and recognise sounds. This can be, for example, if a child is playing with nature elements by using a stick and creating different sounds and they can create different beats. In my experience, I played the game with the children which guessed the sound, which is we played the video of different sounds we asked children to close their eyes and to guess which sound played, to see what sounds they recognized, for example, rain of sound, vacuum, ducks.

Children showed interest in this activity which allowed me to experience different sounds were able to understand why animals would have different sounds to a vacuum cleaner.

Documentation helps
educators to understand children’s development which starts with observation, which
helps indicate children’s interest in what they like and what educators can do
to support the child’s holistic development. It helps educators to
understand if the children were engaged in the experience or if the children showed
any interest in the experience. It allows educators to assess the children’s
learning and progress made and does the child need more support in a specific
area.

Title : Pump your energy
Question: What are the movements you make when listening to the song?
Context : This activity was conducted indoors at home
Activity is for: 3-5 years.
Teacher: Nasro
Documenter name: Chanelle
The age group of the learners:
Adults
The purpose of the learning experience
The date or time period: Wednesday 23th June 2021, 7:00pm
The learning prompt or project:
Visual Learning
The size of the group:
5
Materials used:
Laptop
Reflection:
In this activity we performed heads and shoulders with twist of singing the song, instead of music playing. I asked participants to sing the song head and shoulders and perform it and explored on how each body part works. It allows children to use their voice as music tool to explore learn and to hear different vocals when singing the song and incorporate the dance. It supports children in developing sense for themselves and learn coordination and balance and its repetitive song which helps develop their memory.

In my experience when I have played this game with children, I have found how much of joy and excitement it brings to them and it allows them to move their bodies and always. It allowed children to build skills in their listening and being able take instruction and also supports their language development.

Music works as a facilitator to children. When children sing song, they enjoy it as well as dance to the rhythm. It works same as physical activity. From an early age, children make up little ‘songlets’ and rhythmic patterns, singing words or parts of words repetitively, which supports the development of speech. Form the young child, music making is a natural part of general play, always connected to movement, vocalising, role play, and pretend play, etc. It develops self-responsibility, focus, physical fitness.

According to social and personal responsibility model teachers need to emphasis on the development of the whole student, including how students think, feel, and interact with others. Embraces students as individuals, provides them with a voice, allows them to make decisions on their own, and places less emphasis on skill development and academic achievement.

Title: Body and Brain movement
Question: What is your favourite pose in yoga?
Context :This activity was conducted indoors at home
Activity is for: 3-5 years.
Teacher: Nasro
Documenter name: Cathy
The age group of the learners: Adults
The purpose of the learning experience: learning different position of yoga

The date or time period: Thursday 24th June 2021
The learning prompt or project:
Visual Learning
The size of the group:
5
Materials used:
Laptop
Reflection:

During this activity, we performed different yoga poses, including cat pose, dog pose, tree pose. When we performed this activity, I found that some participants performed different poses, and some found it difficult to perform it. This learning space was based at home in a quiet area, in which I had asked participants to perform this activity. Yoga is a wonderful form of exercise that supports children's motor skills and helps develop their flexibility and mobility. It allows children to focus on their minds and bodies. It also teaches children about movement and understanding how their body works, which works differently for everyone.

This learning experience links back to Maslow's Theories, how it talks about how educators support children’s physical development and emotional needs when they grow up to be resilient and competent. Therefore, in my previous experience with this activity, when I conducted it with children, I observed how children engaged in this activity, and children enjoyed doing different movements, for example; a tree, pose, and taking instructions well, and staying focused to get the format correct.

I also noticed children helped their struggling friends, and that would say ‘Oh look at how I am doing’. If you copy me, you can do like how I did. Most times, children encourage each other by watching their friends do that exact movement. The whole point of the activity isn’t about doing it the exact way, but if the child can recreate the pose in their imagination, that’s the main point of it.
