I have a pretty big extended family, but my immediate family is pretty average, I have my Mom, Dad, Brother, and Dog. My Dad, Patrick, was born and raised in Miami, FL. My Mom, Patty, was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She moved to Miami when she was 6. My little brother, Jason, was born in Orlando, FL. My Dog, Ruby, is a rescue, she's 6 years old now, and we've had her for 4 years. Here is a recent photo of her, laying down by my dining room table.

When I started school we lived in a small town just outside of Orlando, FL called St. Cloud. So I went to the local public elementary school, St. Cloud Elementary. Towards the beginning of my 4th Grade year, my Dad got a promotions to a job in Jacksonville, FL, so when we first moved, I went to our local public elementary school, Greenland Pines Elementary. That school is where I finished my 4th Grade year, but I definitely did not want to go there for 5th Grade, I had a horrible teacher, and the school itself was pretty disgusting as well. So we decided to apply for a new charter school that was being built right around the corner from our house. It was a K-8, so I'd be able to go to middle school there, in addition to my 5th Grade year. We got into the school, and I immediately loved it. So that's where I stayed for 5th Grade through 8th Grade. The summer after 8th Grade, (craziest summer of my life) my Dad got accepted for another promotion to here in South Jersey. We got a house under contract just in time for me to start High School, at Timber Creek on time. So far, I've loved it here.

I've never had a ton of friends, or been super popular. Which I'm actually happy with. I've always landed in the middle of the road in popularity, and have always had a few really close, really good friends. When I was living in St. Cloud, my best friend on the planet was my next door neighbor, Reilly, we met when I was 3, and she was 4. Until the time I moved when I was 9, we traveled all over our neighborhood on our bikes, and would buy ice cream from the ice cream truck every time it came by. We were always exploring, and it was an absolute blast. We still occasionally chat, but after not living there for 6 years, we don't talk a ton anymore. But we're still, and I think, always will be pretty good friends. In Jacksonville, I met probably my best friend of all time, Declan. We met in cub scouts, when I first moved there. To this day, we've been pretty much inseparable. He is one of those friends that'll make you laugh every single time they open their mouths. I find him hilarious. He and I still talk almost everyday, and play video games together. Which I love. Even though I'm almost a thousand miles away, we can still interact with each other on a daily basis. This is something Reilly and I didn't have when I moved away. Since living here, I've met a few pretty great people, Dylan, Lilly, Patrick, and Kyle are probably the people I've gotten to know best. I'm probably closet with Dylan, and Kyle. But at the same time, due to COVID, I haven't gotten much of a chance to get super close with any one of them yet.

Like I said before in my "Family Life" tab, my Mom is from Caracas. However, this being said, ethnically I'm not Venezuelan. On my Moms side, my Grandfather is originally from North Carolina, and my Grandmother is Colombian. They met when my grandpa went to Colombia for school. My grandfather has a European background, I believe he has some Scottish, British, and a mix of some other things too. My Dads side of the family is mostly all European, Grandpa's Dad was from Sweden, and his Mom was from Ireland. On my Grandma's side, I believe she has some French Canadian.

While he sometimes drives me insane, and annoys me with the some of the little things he does, he's taught me a lot. The main thing I've taken away from him, is everybody goes at their own pace. It's a simple concept. But I have had these expectations of him, to respond a certain way to certain things when he gets to a certain point in his life. Really, I expect him to respond like I did at those ages. But, he goes at his own pace. It doesn't matter what I try to push, or what I try to teach him, he just wants to do his own thing, and I've learned to be okay with that.

Summer of 2019

Last summer, the summer of 2019, wasn't a normal one. It was an intense, sad, scary, and crazy one. To start, in late 2018/Early 2019, my grandfather, on my Dads side, found out he was battling Mesothelioma. A cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. In the 60's he was in the Coast Guard, where he was exposed. At the time of course, nobody knew that it was dangerous. Anyway, at the beginning of the summer, my Grandpa contracted the flu, and because of chemo, he succumbed to it. We had a memorial service for him at his local church in Miami, and in November he was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Not to long after that, I had summer camp, this was quite a crazy trip, to say the least. On one day of the trip, me and some of my friends from my Troop were messing around at a river on the camp. Which was right by a road, but was a pretty far hike back to camp. So, one of the kids from my troop, fell back, and hit his head on the bottom of the river, which was rocks. He split his head open, so of course, I immediately tossed my towel to one of the other kids, told them to put pressure, and then grabbed my phone to call 911. But, of course, there wasn't any service. So, I started running up the road trying to get a signal, finally, a car drove by, and I did something probably not to smart, but I flagged down the car, told him what was happening, and asked if he could drive me to where there was service, luckily, he was a nice guy, and gave me a ride up the road so I could call 911. The ambulance came by, picked me up, dropped me off by the front of the camp, and then went and picked up my friend by the river. As if this wasn't enough craziness already, my Dad was interviewing for the job in New Jersey. So, around the middle of the day, my Dad texted me, telling me to call him. Of course, I knew why he was calling me, to tell me whether or not he got the job. So I grabbed my brother, and we went up to a spot where the service was good enough to get a call. So, we called him, and he and my Mom, who were both in New Jersey, broke the news to us that my Dad got the job. It was that night, or the day after that they flew home. I still had a few days at camp. So when I got home, my house already for sale, and it only took another couple days for the house to sell. So, we closed at the end of the month, and we hit the road for New Jersey. We got here August 1st. At first we lived on a camp property, in a little cabin, while we were looking for a house. At that point, we thought we had found the one, that was until the inspection came back with 102 pages worth of things wrong with the house. After that, the owner of the house completely ghosted us, and even his own realtor. Having enough of the cabin, we moved into a apartment-like hotel. We stayed there for a few weeks while we looked at houses, but every house that we put under contract ended up falling through. Finally we had a house under contract, but school was starting soon, so we needed to be closer to where our schools were, so, we moved to the only available pet friendly hotel, the Howard Johnsons. Which wasn't very nice at all. The first night, at about 2-3 AM (I slept right through it) we had people banging on our room door, and my parents thought we were getting robbed, but it was really just some people ding-dong-ditching us. There were plenty more instances of craziness, I saw a guy hiding behind a dumpster, shoving things into his jacket, making it pretty obvious he had just robbed the Wawa next door. My Mom saw in the lobby two employees cursing eachother out. There are plenty more stories like this. The Howard Johnsons was a pretty crazy place. Anyway, it took us quite some time to get into our house, it was a flip house, so they were still working on it. We were probably under contract with this house for a month, but finally, we got to move in, and finally get all our stuff back.

I guess I could probably make a 2020 post that includes this, but my Grandma, on my Dads side also passed away just about a month ago. It was quite sudden, she was mostly healthy, but after severe stomach pains, she was rushed to the hospital. They found out she had a perforated bowel. She was rushed to emergency surgery, and then transferred to the ICU. She was severely septic, and her numbers got worse. She passed away in the ICU.
