SGY 2 - You have been a great year group with some truly amazing minds and personalities. To my advisory group. I am so proud to have been the only female in the this select team of extremely gifted young men for that last four years. I see the talent you have and wow...!. I am even prouder that I got you joyfully making reindeer cupcakes at Christmas! Never will I have, an advisory group again with such creativity in both the door competitions and planning advisory parties... me 'where shall we go? ...advisory - can we just stay in class and play games on our computers'? (Ms. Reeves despairs). My two psych classes, thank you for the great questions, not fainting when we dissected brains/eyes and allowing me to condition you to salivate at funny words, dye your tongues blue and make you look introspectively - I hope you learned about yourselves as much as you learned the course! It's also certainly been interesting seeing you living your best school lives online - learning from bed for some of you....no names mentioned! It's been an ABSOLUTE pleasure. I'll miss you alot. But I'll leave you will a quote:

I know as teachers we are not meant to have favourite groups but I guess I'm allowed to say you're mine - my favourite advisory of all time. I'm so proud of how you have just got on with everything. I have really fond memories of each and everyone of you.

Victor - joining us for SGY from Venezuela and watch you start new friendship groups. Always messing around with Tyler in what i thought was the 'bromance' of sgy1! I know it has been difficult for you not to play football these last few months but I hope you get to play soon. Good luck!

Kennedy - your unwavering love of musicals. I'm sorry we never got to go to Ellen's diner when we went to New York for the UNIS trip but you made that trip a great experience for me and Ms. McArthur with your witty comments and excitement for all things musical. Thank you for your joy every morning in advisory.

Tyler - there have been too many funny moments with you from Year 9 onwards. I know you hate the pregnancy joke of 'who's the smartest in the room because they have 2 brains' so I definitely want to remind you of that one ;) funny moments included the public speaking trip to Winnipeg, you telling off Jessie most of the time in GCSE Geography and well, just all your inappropriate jokes every morning which makes all of us roll our eyes. PS, I still haven't seen you on Tik Tok!

Sam - the quiet, Sam 'lion' king. I don't think i've ever known anyone who has more 'lates' than you for advisory. I really enjoyed seeing you blossom when you were awarded the Sport's Captain role. Getting to see your church skits and watching you perform in those was an honour, thank you for sharing that part of your life with me. I really wish you all the best Sam!

Jessie - I've been really proud of how you've been competing internationally alongside your studies. You have shown great resilience in not harming Tyler as he makes you the centre point of his jokes. I hope you have the best time in the UK for university :)

Emma - what a few years it has been. You have worked really hard as leader of the prom committee and i know you will have the best prom when it eventually does happen, all that hard work and the fundraising would have paid off. Nahla and I have enjoyed catching a lift with you and your mum in the mornings and hopefully we will catch up with you at Christmas!

Bella - you have always been the best one to give me netflix advice! I've loved seeing you develop this really keen interest in the environment and now you're going off to college to carry that passion on. You've shared my enthusiasm for the Christmas door competitions with India - still not sure why we didn't get a mention for take a s'elfie' or our last minute banana idea! I look forward to seeing you continue to blossom in to the kind young woman the world needs.

India - remember when you told off Mrs Ridgeway LOL. Our trip to New York was fun, you certainly know how to shop! It was also a really proud moment teaching you after school the gcse in geography and you managing to get the grade you did! I know that you're excited for university and I wish you the best with your legal career!

Cody - I do not know how you have put up with our advisory! You always have a lovely smile on your face each morning and always the politest student first thing. I hope you go on to do great things and make Bermuda proud!

Ritz WONG - the greatest fashionista in SGY2 by far. You were great fun on the UNIS trip and I loved how you connected with other students from other schools. You make everyone laugh with your dry sense of humor. DOn't think i'll ever forget you and Nuno debating ha ha! I hope you have the best time away at college, it's going to be the making of you!

Spencer, Spen, Golf, Young. How many times do you think you practised your swing in advisory? I was really worried when it came to writing your reference that was all we would have to talk about! I'm excited to see what you do at Richmond and the next stage in your life.

I have really enjoyed our morning advisory skype check ins and I will leave you with this Carole Baskin meme...Good luck my favourite advisory class, check you on the bounce!

Looking at the list of graduates, I'm realizing that I've taught the majority of you over the past seven years. For those of you who were here since year 7 (or before), we entered the Saltus Secondary department at the same time, and I hope you appreciate how amazing it is that you've come so far.

To those of you who I've had the pleasure of teaching in AP Physics, you should know your class was one of my favorites that I've ever had. I'll think back on you all fondly. Enjoy university and all of the fun stuff that comes with it. You're all talented, capable people. Remember, you don't need a lumberjack to pour your milk.

Stay in touch!

I was ‘introduced’ to your year group by having Owen, Christian, Sam P and Stanley in my advisory group… Sam didn’t last that long though as he wasn’t a fan of my insistence that he sit on a chair and not lie on a table during advisory. Stanley departed for school abroad shortly afterwards so I was left with the two rebels without a cause… and, oh, how they liked to ‘test’ my patience! 😉

Good luck guys and thanks for continuing to visit me after you moved on to someone else's advisory!

When the "dust settles", when COVID-19 is nothing but a memory, and when you are, perhaps, quite far from your diminutive but beautiful island home, in a new place with much to learn, lots to see and do, and with so many experiences and opportunities awaiting you, the realization will come to you that there have been some really special times here at Saltus and in Bermuda- AND even during this crisis, despite its challenges and frustrations. Even in the tedium of lockdown, in the parallel universe that is remote learning, and with the anxiety surrounding exams, prom and graduation (although maybe not in that order for some of you!) you have "made memories," and it will be those memories that will revisit you, creeping into your conscious mind when you hear a song that reminds you of this time, and they will make you smile.

To my AP class- I wish you luck in your exams, but, most importantly, I hope that you enjoy the next stage even more than you have enjoyed this one. Spread your wings, fly! Life as you have known it is going to change forever and these next few years are potentially the most "free," you will ever be in your adult life: they are also transformative ones. Embrace all that will be new and cherish the memories and people from your Bermuda life, bringing them with you.

To my original Class of 2020 kiddos:

Froudie: I could not be more proud of you, of what you have achieved and of how far you have come. A few shout outs before I impart some wisdom - I hope! To my SGY2 Art class: Thank you for laughing at my lame jokes - I'm pretty sure you were laughing at me. To Charlie, congrats on Parsons, you will be awesome. You have become a great designer and it has been a pleasure to teach you these past four years.
Christian, you have made me laugh during our lessons with your stories of your escapades with your horses! It has been a pleasure to get to know you as a young adult - and not the mischievous kid I remember from Yr 9!
Julianne, you have been a delight to have in lessons and such a big help to me with the yearbook, thank you for all your hard work - and for being my right hand woman! Enjoy Mount Allison, they are lucky to have you!
Last, but not least, to Isabella. Whilst you have had to put up with many embarrassing moments of having your mother as your teacher for five LONG years, you have behaved impeccably! Thank you for not reciprocating and embarrassing me! I am proud of you as your mother but also especially as your art teacher! (ok, I did it again! whoops!)
Special shout outs to my Photo students Jared , Owen and Parris. It has been entertaining just guessing what snacks any of you bring to class, whether Parris will stay awake or if Owen will fix his hair! Best of luck boys, you will be missed!
Now for the wisdom. One for my Art students and one for all of you. Congratulations SGY2, you will be missed!xo

It will be strange not coming to school tomorrow morning and finding my door handle covered in vaseline, my office full of random objects , and lockers zip tied together. Prank day is somewhat of a tradition and I am sure you had something up your sleeves!

I joined Saltus in the same year as Ms. Berryman and really feel that over the years I have got to know you all well - the good, the bad and the ugly! There are lots of things that I will miss:

- Illidio and Parris' constant gaming
- Dimitri asleep in the common room
- Lily asleep in the common room
- Victor asleep in the common room
-pretty much everyone asleep in the common room!
- burnt macaroni and cheese - no idea how it didn't set off the fire alarm
- your academic achievements
-your athletic prowess with many of you going on the represent your country
- your sense of humour
- your love of Saltus and the way in which you played a role in revolutionizing of the school leadership programme
- your grace when faced with the untimely ending of your time at Saltus....the list goes on.

I would also like the thank Ms. McArthur for all her work and support. She really has been an amazing Year Coordinator since year 7. She has been supportive and tough on you in equal measure. There is no one person that is more of an advocate for all of you. She has navigated you through your teenage years and she has been your biggest supporter through thick and thin. I think the greatest testament to this is that your graduate year has passed without incident and that all of you have all done yourselves proud. She will be missed!

Please stay positive, remember that you are the class of 2020 and that you helped the school and fellow students navigate through the current crisis. We will get through this together and celebrate on the other side - that's a promise!

Congratulations Class of 2020!
Not the send off you would've wanted, but you are a resilient bunch who I know will take this in your stride and continue to make us proud. I actually miss teaching my class. Yes, even you Palmer.
I still can't believe my first class I taught when I arrived at Saltus was your lot in year 7. Ryan had actually been teaching the class before I arrived, and had been doing a stellar job, by all accounts! I knew within minutes, that I would love teaching your class and working at Saltus.
To this day, my GCSE class from your year was one of the most enjoyable and entertaining classes I've ever had the pleasure of teaching.
Thank you and I wish you success in your next chapter. Please do stay in touch.
My one piece of advise would be - do something you enjoy, something that makes you happy. If it also pays well, it's a bonus :)
* Also if you decide to get a tattoo (not an endorsement), research the artist even more than the design!

So..... the joys of teaching SGY2 Macroeconomics?
Well.... Sometimes Noa wasn't in a meeting or at the Orthodentist. Occasionally Conor would look up from his dealings on the international money markets and come 'back into the room' with me and Jackson, Keiran and Adrian - solving the Global macro problems or snorting at the social policy ideas of JMK. We might even be joined by the 'social medialites' Natalie and Sam on a good day (or a morning perhaps). I arrived as a young, keen and eager economist and I survived but look at me now!! "Happy Grad" dudes and dudettes. Hope it goes how and where you want it to.

I have also had the pleasure of teaching many of you biology and marine science, and your classes have been some of my favorites to teach. I will miss each and every one of you.

I’m sure that this isn’t the way you guys wanted your last day to be but as much as you talked about the fact that you wished this day would come sooner you manifested your destiny LOL. I know that all of you will manifest your destiny in whatever space you want in your future and I can’t wait to see and hear about it when they come in to action. I will dearly above all miss my sociology classes. Over the past two years I have seen such growth and maturity in all of you and some of the discussions that we had bring a smile to my face. Especially the angry Jared episode 🤣🤣🤣. Remember to question everything and use those questions to create your brilliant world. Love you guys 👊🏽

The graduating class of 2020 will will be a class I will always remember! Teaching you in Year 4 was one of the most challenging yet satisfying feats I have had in my career. You were an energetic and rambunctious crew, but also kind and hardworking. You were the first to start our Foundation program and are certainly leaving in a different way too!
The best of luck to each and every one of you. The best is yet to come.
x Mrs. Adams
