Notice how they use 's for Proper Nouns. Individual names like Charles can be added 's to show possession.

Example: It is Charles's shirt. However, the possessive of a pluralize family name, we pluralize first and then simply make the name possessive with the use of an apostrophe.

Example: We might travel in the Smiths' car when we visit the the Joneses' home.
