When the book came out it was called charlie and the chocolate factory but because of legal rights they had to change the name of the movie to Willy Wonka.
 The book Charlie and the chocolate factory was published in 1964.
the movie was filmed in Illinois in the usa.

The book was originally supposed to be called James and the giant cherry but the inspiration for the peach came from a cherry tree.
After looking a a couple of different kinds of fruit he eventually settled on the peach.
There have been different cover designs over the years.

THE MOVIE WAS A BOX OFFICE FLOP the author roald dahl 
hated the film willy wonka and the chocolate factory and it only made about $4,000,000 but this newer one with Johnny depp was a huge hit.
there was supposed to be a 3rd book called charlie in the white house but Roald Dahl passed away and the book never got published.
