Back in the day, the students were required to focus on reading and writing as the teachers were not proficient in the oral skills, since languages were taught in the L1. Nowadays, the input received by the students is focused on communicative competence. In the last decades, teachers have been able to become proficient speakers in the target language on the grounds that the objective when learning a language have evolved from theoretical aspects to more practical and empirical ones. Finally, the technological factor have also had a great importance on the evolution of the acquisition of language.
