Because in the giver the people who select you watch your life and observe it until its time to assign your job. They test you on things to find what your good at and use all the things you're good at to determine your future. Whereas in the hunger games they just go to each district and pick a name out of a glass bowl. They don't know whether they will be good or not.<br>Similarities<br>They both have to go to the ceremony/reaping unaware of what they will be or whether they will be chosen.<br><br></div>]]></description>
