Artifacts and observational data are to be gathered and analyzed to provide a rich profile of the literacy classroom environment and the diverse learners within it.

Students who are intrinsically motivated to read and learn do so because they expect positive and successful experiences. Intrinsic motivation has been linked to the amount of reading, students’ successful use of comprehension strategies, and their growing sense of competence (Schiefele & Schaffner, 2016, as cited in Dewitz, Graves, Graves, Juel, 2019, p.68). In order to determine how intrinsically motivated students are to read it is important for teachers to gather information directly from the student. 

This assignment supported by growth as a future educator because it provided me the opportunity to apply my thinking to a real world scenario by finding a student who showed low motivation to read appropriate books to read to encourage reading.
