Acquisition of Hikmah from Ibadah

This topic from what I understand, explains the process of acquiring ḥikmah (wisdom and positive values) through ‘ibādah (acts of worship). It emphasizes that true wisdom is not just about knowledge but also about applying positive values in life.

To achieve this, three essential aspects must be considered:

Setting the right niyyah (intention): Every action, especially in worship, should begin with a sincere and pure intention. Having the right niyyah ensures that our deeds are meaningful and performed for the right reasons, leading to spiritual and moral development as well as being a true Muslim.

Applying the right ‘amal (practices): Intentions alone are not enough; they must be followed by proper actions. Practicing ethical and religious teachings in daily life such as 5 daily prayers ensures that our behavior aligns with moral values and principles. This step transforms intentions into tangible, positive outcomes that's favoured by Allah SWT

Internalizing the iḥsān (positive virtues): Beyond intention and practice, one must embody iḥsān, which refers to excellence, sincerity, and positive virtues in actions. This means performing deeds with sincerity, striving for excellence, and constantly improving oneself in both worship to Allah and character.

By following this process, a person can develop true wisdom (ḥikmah) and lead a life that reflects strong ethical and spiritual values.

Preparation for Salah with Khushu

This topic explains the essential steps for preparing for Ṣalāh (prayer) while maintaining Khushūʿ (humility and concentration). Proper preparation ensures that the prayer is performed correctly and accepted thus serving the purpose of gaining Allah's pleasure. The key aspects include:

Ṭahārah (Purification) – Wuḍūʾ / Tayammum: Before performing Ṣalāh, one must achieve physical purity through Wuḍūʾ (ablution) or, in cases where water is unavailable, Tayammum (dry ablution). Purification is necessary to attain both physical and spiritual cleanliness.

Conditions for the Acceptance (Ṣaḥ) of Ṣalāh: Certain conditions must be met for Ṣalāh to be valid, such as praying at the correct time, facing the Qiblah, and maintaining proper attire. These conditions ensure that the prayer is performed in accordance with Islamic teachings.

Pillars of Ṣalāh: The fundamental actions and recitations that make up Ṣalāh must be observed. These include standing (Qiyām), recitation of Sūrat al-Fātiḥah, bowing (Rukūʿ), prostration (Sujūd), and the final sitting (Tashahhud). Missing any of these without a valid reason may invalidate the prayer.

Application of Ṣalāh in Different Situations: Islam provides flexibility in prayer based on circumstances. This includes:

Qaṣr (Shortened prayer) for travelers.

Jamāʿ (Congregational prayer) for communal worship.

Nawāfil (Voluntary prayers) for extra devotion.

Ṣalāh during illness, which allows for modifications in posture and movements based on one's health condition.

By following these steps, a person ensures that their Ṣalāh is performed correctly, with sincerity and devotion, leading to spiritual fulfillment and closeness to Allah.

The virtues found in Sawm(fasting)

This discussion highlights the key virtues that are cultivated through Ṣawm (fasting) in Islam. Fasting is not just about abstaining from food and drink, it also nurtures essential moral and spiritual qualities:

Ṣabr (Patience and Forbearance): Fasting teaches self-control, endurance, and the ability to remain patient in difficult situations. It strengthens willpower and helps individuals develop resilience in the face of challenges.

Takrīm (Respect and Deference): Through fasting, one learns to respect others, appreciate blessings, and develop humility. It encourages a sense of gratitude and respect for the struggles of those who are less fortunate.

Raḥmah (Friendliness and Compassion): Fasting fosters kindness, empathy, and a sense of community. It encourages individuals to be more understanding, generous, and supportive towards others, strengthening social bonds.

By practicing Ṣawm with sincerity, a person not only fulfills a religious obligation but also improves their character, becoming more patient, respectful, and compassionate.

ADAB WHEN GIVING SADAQAH

My role in this role play was to explain the adab of giving what you love. I contributed to the making of the poster as well as presenting the explanation.

I choose to present this because in the Al-Quran, there is a verse that goes:

لَن تَنَالُوا الْبِرَّ حَتَّىٰ تُنفِقُوا مِمَّا تُحِبُّونَ ۗ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا مِن شَيْءٍ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ بِهِ عَلِيمٌ

Translation:

"Never will you attain righteousness until you spend [in the way of Allah] from that which you love. And whatever you spend—indeed, Allah is Knowing of it." (3:92)

This verse teaches us that the best form of charity is not just giving what we don’t need, but giving from what we cherish and value.

The hikmah from giving from what we love is that it brings happiness to the receiver. When we give the best, we ensure that those in need feel valued and respected, rather than just being given leftover.

To conclude, the next time we give Ṣadaqah, let’s remember to give with a sincere heart and from what we truly love. It is not about how much we give, but about the quality and intention behind it. May Allah grant us the ability to be generous and selfless in our charity.
