         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Small transparent shrimps</p></li><li><p>Can live up to 7 years in the ocean</p></li><li><p>Arctic waters are abundant in nutrients making it a breeding ground</p></li><li><p>Large animals such as whales, seals, penguins and birds feed off them</p></li><li><p>They are very important to the ecosystem </p><p><br/></p></li><li><p>Adaptations include: </p></li><li><p><strong>Anatomical</strong> - Structures of the body</p><p>They have fine hairs to scrape phytoplankton off the underside of sea ice during the Winter</p></li><li><p>Complex and highly developed compound eyes to see predators</p></li><li><p><strong>Behavioural</strong> - The manner in which animals move and act.</p></li><li><p>Rapid backward escape reaction to escape predators</p></li><li><p>Swim in swarms that can have up to 10,000 to 30,000 krill</p></li><li><p><strong>Physiological</strong> - The internal functions of the animal from biochemical, to cellular, tissue, organ and whole organism level.</p></li><li><p>Can withstand long periods of starvation (up to 200 days)<strong> </strong>by using their muscle as a reserve</p></li><li><p>A female krill can lay up to 10000 eggs</p></li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>. weight ranges from 260kg to 500kg depending on gender.</p><p><br/></p><p>. length is from 2.8m to 3.8m.</p><p><br/></p><p>.breading can be 1 month before or after November.</p><p><br/></p><p>.the population is 200,000 to 400,000.</p><p><br/></p><p>.they eat any animals that are small enough to eat and kill with a wide variety because they are the second biggest predator in the arctic only behind the orca or killer whale.</p><p><br/></p><p>.diving is not so good limiting them to 40kmph or 25mph.</p><p><br/></p><p>.predators are the killer whale but not as often as some other prey.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Average Weight - 400-450 kg</p><p><br/></p><p>Diet:  Mainly fish, especially Nothenids known as Arctic Cod. They also eat squid and invertibraes in much smaller amounts.</p><p><br/></p><p>Diving:   Weddell seals are good divers, being able to swim down to six hundred meters in depths and can hold their breath for 82 minutes!</p><p><br/></p><p>Population: - 500,000 - 1,000,000</p><p><br/></p><p>Predators: - Killer whales, Sledge dogs</p><p><br/></p><p>Weddel seal adaptations:   Fore and hind limbs developed into flippers for swimming, smooth streamlined shape to glide through water, a blubber layer, large eyes to help hunt prey under water and whiskers to help seals feel their way in the dark when catching prey.</p>]]></description>

         <title>Emperor penguins </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Eat silver fish, krill and squid</p></li><li><p>Live for 15-20 years</p></li><li><p>They keep warm because they have two layers of feathers they also have thick laylers of fat that traps heat inside the body .</p></li><li><p>They raise the young penguins on ice.</p></li><li><p>These penguins have black and white bodies with stiff black wings, their back, head, chin ,throat and the dorsal part of their wings are black.</p></li><li><p>A female Emoeror penguin lays one single egg and leaves!  The father covers the egg  with his brood pouch and stands on it for 65 days during really bad weather. The mother returns after 2 months and regurgitaes food for the baby to eat!</p></li></ul><p><br></p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li><p>Fur seals will usually feed on krll normley but if there is none they will eat fish or squid</p></li></ul><ul><li><p>Fur seals live in groups called the oturid or eared in the endangered Antarctic. Male fur seals live up to 18 year and female fur seals live up to 27 years.</p></li><li><p>Southern fur seals keep warm by having a thick layer of fat.</p></li><li><p>Adaptations.Fur seals have external ears and the ability to use all four limbs to move across land.</p></li><li><p>Male fur seals weigh up to 130 to 210kg and female fur seals weigh up to 22 to 55kg.</p><p><br/></p><p> </p><p><br/></p></li></ul>]]></description>

Average length is 2.6m </p><p><br/></p><p>Diet: 95% of its diet is krill,remains of squid and fish.</p><p><br/></p><p>. Crabeater seals live in the pack-ice zone surrouding Antarica.</p><p><br/></p><p>.They can live up to a 20-40 years oldbut there not close to being endangred,with 10-12 million alive now.</p><p><br/></p><p>They adapted to the cold polar environments with there thick blubber  layers that act as food reserve.</p><p><br/></p><p>.
