Primary researchThis research is conducted by us or by a research firm who you hire to do this type of research this can include focus groups, surveys, interviews and observations. It is not like other forms of research and it aims to answer questions which are relevant to you. For example if you are launching a new website and want feedback on its efficacy and design you would share it with focus groups to get a wide response to the site. Primary research provides you with more specific results and it’s usually the research firm which will use statistical models to come up with a sample group which is representative of a target audience and making it relevant to your needs.

Primary Research is research which is being carried out for the first time. it is new information which is being discovered and developed based around a topic.

Secondary Research is research which has already been developed and found out. People use secondary research to get a better understanding of certain topics or they build upon the secondary research.

Similarities: is that both primary and secondary are both forms of research despite how the research was found or collected. They both help improve/gain information.

Differences: one of the main differences between the two is how the research is collected. Primary research is collected through questionnaires, interviews and one to one conversations. Whereas, secondary research is found on the internet and autobiography's.

Rebecca
