Describe the reasons why you planned it that way and why you think it is effective/ why you think the lesson objectives will be achieved that way.

I planned this lesson on toxic masculinity that way to engage students personally and help them understand the topic better. Starting with a brief explanation and asking for their thoughts makes the lesson relevant to their lives. Working in pairs to list traits of traditional masculinity promotes teamwork and shares different ideas and points of views. Reading real-world examples allows students to analyze how toxic behaviors impact people and society. Introducing key vocabulary in context helps them remember important words. The writing exercise encourages personal reflection, making the topic more relatable. Finally, a debate helps students express different opinions respectfully. This variety of activities create a supportive environment while achieving the lesson goals effectively.

The increasing involvement of politics in social dynamics in my today’s society affects my teaching as most political issues, topics derive from political debates, such as gender inequality, inclusion, diversity and many more sensitive topics are being taught and discussed in the classroom. Therefore, depending on how those topics are being taught, students' perspectives may be shaped differently. As a teacher, I need to be flexible while making sure that all students’ voices and views are heard in a manner that poses no offenses to anyone of different backgrounds or diversity. Such political topics are also significant for students to develop their critical thinking ability. Moreover, it will also highlight the importance of responsibilities in the society as the students learn about all of these.

Teaching English through socio-political topics, The teachers can create environments with the debates, discussions, and reflective writing on such topics encourage learners to practice a wide range of communication skills, from listening actively to presenting arguments persuasively. Moveover, it can improve the critical thinking skills for students by analysing, evaluating, and expressing opinions, which develops higher-order thinking skills in the social-political contexts. It also helps improve their proficiency in both language and reasoning. However, teaching through socio-political topics requires sensitivity and careful planning.

The increasing involvement of politics in social dynamics today has profound implications for education. One major effect is the shaping of curricula to reflect specific political agendas, which can either broaden or limit students' exposure to diverse perspectives. While some argue this helps create engaged citizens, others worry it risks narrowing critical thinking by prioritizing certain viewpoints over others. Another impact is the heightened pressure on educators. Teachers often navigate sensitive topics carefully by avoiding any mislead conversation which can be challenging in cultivating a safe for learning.
