We do room parents and Family nights every month.
During the virtual learning, I have created a  class FB page for only this years class. My parents have loved that.
Send postcard or letter before school starts introducing myself. 
Have a pre-conference and ask the questions on p.115 and then check back at the end of the year and see how you did.
