Thoughts: give me an opinion about something or someone in The Great Gatsby.

Epiphanies: Tell me something you discovered/realized while reading OR give me a prediction/inference you have about where the book is going.

Question - Who do you think is the most valuable character?

Epiphany - What is gonna make Gatsby so great later in the book?

Questions: I wonder when others will be introduced in the story?

Epiphanies: I predict that daisy will be the one who kills somebody in this story, this is because she seems very self centered and will do what she must to get what she wants.

Context: Nick says at the end of chapter 2 he was with a man on his bed in his underwear

Thought: I don't think it would affect my views of the character in any way

Epiphany: it may affect his possible relationship with Gatsby and may be the reason he thinks of Gatsby so fondly

Q: The man in the Library confuses me but I wonder. will he be an Important character or at least involved in a plot point in anyway?

T: I’ve realize that the book we are reading could be either a book that exists in the universe of The Great Gatsby or is a journal owned by Nick. At one point he talks about trying to write something to explain what’s happening.

P: I predict Nick might learn nothing about Gatsby and that’s why he holds him so high, because he always sings his praises.

T: I think that Tom is a bad person and his ways of living and lack of self control are damaging to himself and those around him such as Myrtle, Daisy, and Gatsby.

Q: I wonder why Myrtle settles for George when she is capable of much more than the life he gives her.

E: I realized that Daisie's self respect is low and she lets a lot of things slide from Tom such as serial cheating and domestic violence.

Question: Why specifically does Nick bias Gatsby compared to others which he describes negatively?

Epiphany: My prediction is that Nick will get closer with Gatsby and Jordan and maybe they’ll find out whether Gatsby did murder someone or not.

Questions: Is Gatsby waiting for Daisy?

Epiphanies: Will Daisy eventually leave Tom because it seems like Daisy is waiting for someone.

Thought - Gatsby’s parties seem exciting and full of life , but deep down, they are empty because he isn’t really connected to the people there.

Question - Why does Gatsby throw big and fancy parties if he doesn’t like to attend them himself.

Prediction - I predict that as Nick gets to know Gatsby better, he will find a deeper meaning behind Gatsby’s actions

Thought- I think Nick is a nice person but judges people on his own. He doesn’t want to seem like a bad person but in reality he is. He hides his judgement by just going along with people.

Questions- If it’s known that Tom has a mistress everywhere he goes, does Daisy know? Is she ignoring it because she’s also having an affair?

Epiphanies-I predict that Gatsby is actually engaging with Nick and inviting him personally because he found out that he is friends with someone he wants to get to know.

Question: Why does Gatsby have so many people over all the time but isn’t a great party host?

Epiphany: Something I realized is nobody truly knows Gatsby, he’s a mysterious man so I believe he will play a big part in the rest of the story.

Thought: I feel like this book is full of mysteries and surprises that shock us every time.

Question: Why is Gastby so important and great?

Epiphany: I predict that something bad will happen to Myrtle because she chose to cheat on her husband because she’s not happy with her husband.

My thought about this chapter is Gatsby is throwing very fun parties but is never there which is kinda dumb if you think about it. My question is why does everyone use his property. My prediction is he throws these parties for a reason I feel like it’s not just for people to have fun I predict theirs a deeper reason.

Question: Why does the author keep us away from Gatsby?

Epiphanies: Something I can predict is when Gatsby makes an appearance in the book, it will be anticlimactic.

Thought: gatsby seems sketchy and there’s something off about him.

Question: I’m really questioning on gatsby, why is he never showing up to his own gathering and when he does he only makes. Small talk.

E: Nick can find out something about gatpsy and perhaps spy on him

Questions- does she know if Tom is cheating on her? If she knows is it possible she's using this as a way to do something evil?

Prediction- I predict that she knows Tom is cheating and she's going to kill him eventually for cheating on her with other women.

Thoughts: I think that nick is judgmental around people that he doesn’t know

Questions: Why does is gatsby not around during the party that he host

Epiphanies: Is the reason that the book is called the great gatsby is because he dies
