Genetically Modified Squash is very useful because the natural version is very weak and they can catch deadly diseases easily. The only problem with GM squashes is that when mixed with natural squashes they can enhance the vunrebilities of natural squashes, that is especially bad news since scientists think they have already mixed.

It is also more resistant to pests that either the tomato or the lemon

genetically modified(or gm) foods are foods that were injected with a gene from another animal or plant that help it to survive from bugs or predators or to help it grow big and produce more milk for example. Most gm foods are crops that farmers want bugs to stop eating. A lot of people think that gm foods are bad because they aren't natural and in one case a country even banned all GM foods.

GM Foods in Singapore

A lot of GM foods are available in singapore however the most common are Canolla, corn, most fruits and tomatoes. In 1996 Singapore approved the Flavr-Savr Tomato for sale in shops, It was the first GM whole food approved. Genetically Modified foods in singapore do not have to be labelled since the foods come from different countries all around the world and if Singapore were to label them they would have to develop their own system and then label them all as they arrived in singapore. The GM foods on the market currently are only first stage genetically modified foods which means their nutritional value hasn't changed only their appereance, shelflife and smell. There is a second generation classification however they are not on sale yet because not enough testing has been done.

I believe that GM foods are good much better overall than whole foods. They are better because they help the animals that live near the fields where they are grown since the use for pesticide is gone. They can also help children by injective the crop to make it so the crop has more of one vitamin and can save children in poverties lives. The GM crops benefit the farmers because they don't have to risk their lives every time they use pesticide.

Rebuttals for other Side:

1. The Crops don't alway help the other animals. Take the monarch butterfly for example. When they eat the corn they die.

2. We don't know that they GM foods can actually help the children they could be causing the children to have cancer at the same time that they are getting the vitamins that they need.

3. They also aren't that much better for the farmers because the seeds become a lot more expensive.

Responses to Rebuttals:

1. Is the benefit of one species really worth it when that one sacrifice can save hundreds.

2. We may not know wether or not Gm foods cause cancer but we also don't know wether or not religion causes cancer so we cant stress over things we don't know are true are not.

3. seeds may become more expensive but they help the farmers to live longer and as people say time is money. They also sell better because they look, taste and last longer so the farmer will earn the money back with a decent profit.
