Habitat fragmentation separates habitats causing them to be in pieces, it's almost like having a sudden wall in the road. It blocks your way to your home, it just separated, because of this animals can't go to where they need causing problems. This effects the environment, If an animal can't get to it's home then it might dye off or it goes to a different place taking up the resources, this could lead to over consumption where because of that extra animal eating the food, there is less of it and it causes a disruption in the food web.

"The spread of human activity threatens ¼ of the world's mammals with extinction." This is causes habitat fragmentation. "Habitat destruction from human activity is the primary cause of risk for 83% of endangered plant species." Habitat fragmentation causes organisms like plants to go extinct because their home was just split. Habitat fragmentation is caused yearly, human are always building something new cause a habitat to be split and now in more pieces.
