"Britain’s road network, which had been relatively primitive prior to industrialization, soon saw substantial improvements, and more than 2,000 miles of canals were in use across Britain by 1815." (Industrial Revolution). Britain again takes the lead in advancing itself through this industrialization. By improving it's roads this allows people to get where they need to be in safer more efficient ways (Industrial Revolution).

Richard Trevithick created a steam powered locomotive in the early 1800's. Later on in the 1830's more similar locomotives were created which travelled from Manchester to Liverpool. Steam power was very important to the Industrial Revolution and further discussed on the page before (Industrial Revolution).

Although this locomotive path was a great success steam boats and ships were already travelling through Britain's canals and across the Atlantic (Industrial Revolution).

Looking at the image above you can see how condensed everything is. During Industrial times populations were growing and more factories were needed to produce more so city planners needed to put tons of stuff in very small spaces. Yes, change can be good but how much nature had to be destroyed to achieve this new layout (Mason)?

Here a canal was opened(Bridgewater canal) to transport coal more efficiently. When this happened coal prices halved which meant more was purchased as it was being used for these new industrial activities (White).
