South Africa is the most southern place in Africa. The capital is Pretoria.

South Africa is a multi-cultural country with different groups of people.

South Africa is known for its former president Nelson Mandela, a park called Kruger National Park and gold. 50% of the gold found in the world should come from South Africa.

A tourist could choose to go to South Africa because of there nature, the dessert, forest and mountains down there is known for being very beautiful. They have a lot of different animals and if you want to see the big five, (who is the leopard, the lion, the buffalo, the elephant and the rhino) you can see them there.

Apartheid separated people from each other by using racedifferences.
Apartheid was a social system used in the 20th century. The people of South Africa where divided by races and forced to live apart. The most common races were white, black, colored and Asian.

Mandela day is an annual international day in honour of Nelson Mandela and it is celebrated the 18 July.

The colours black, yellow and green stand for the African National Congress and the colours red, white and blue stand for colonial European flags.

South Africa is situated between 22 and 35 degrees, in the Southern Hemisphere´s subtropical zone. South Africa has a large variety of wildlife, including snakes, birds, plains animals, and predators. The country has 299 species of mammals and 858 species of birds.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born 18 July 1918 and died 5 December 2013 was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist, who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the country's first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election.

South Africa has a big production of diamonds. In Africa they got a lot mines with diamonds. They got many compared to other countries.
