In Spain a bank offers every year several scholarships in different companies for university students. These scholarships last 3 monthds and after that the company has to extend the contract (this extention goes from 1 day to, I am not sure but I think 3 more months). There are a a few programs in Portugal. Unfortunately, most of them are dedicated to university students. Some companies like Vista Alegre, a ceramic company is always willing to show their work and assembly line. Sometimes, the problem is transportation, as these companies that have these programs ara a bit far from the capital and the school cannot always afford field trips. They might probably produce educational videos and materials that could be used through their websites or workshops through video conference.

Yes, of course! It depends on which part of Italy you live. I teach in a professional school and for us is not a new thing to collaborate with companies. Now companies start to understand also in the south of Italy, that it's important to change the way to collaborate. a month ago one of the company related to transport organized a "Concorso" where students, from different schools, had to prepare a video, interviews to tourists to show positive and negative features of ischia for tourists. It was great and very involving for students who produced a lot.this is for me the right way to approach students. Exploiting their creativity and their competences, according to the individual knowledge and ability.

I personally think that looking for such opportunities is very difficult locally unless you know people who can push you forward. I had tried but unfortunately I was met with one obstacle followed by another. On a separate note form 4 students are given a one week career exposure in various places. This is a kind of job shadowing where students observe others work. Thus they are becoming more exposed of what work is.

In our country we have two options.
On one hand, employment administration give the opportunity for a training contract from 1 to 3 years with a poor income level as part of a professional life.

In Spain we do have some specific ways to work in enterprises. For those who dont go to university we have FP which can be a medium grade or a large grade. In both cases they have to go to FCT (Training on working in enterprises) but yhey differ in the number of hours they spend on that. Also we have the dual FP which trends to imitate northern Europe model, visiting, learning and working mainly in enterprises. I think it is easy to find a connection between the studies and the jobs when students are enrolled in a MBA Master degree, but unfortunately not everybody can access to that.

Only professional training students can benefit of "Apprenticeship" programs.
As we can read in the article, Spain has a "Mediterranean" model. But it would be desirable to have a "Nordic" model.

I found some information about short internships in companies but they generally offer to engage with university studens or older secondary school students. My primary students would not fit. But it is possible to call and ask if they can offer anything like that.

I don't know the answer. As far as I know, postgraduated students have always been who have applied for a job, and have gone to the companies. The change for undergraduated to go for training to companies is something new for me.
The exception is the FP students (vocational training)

I think we have some of those programs focused on Vocational Training to obtain the title of 'Technical and Higher Technician'. In fact, for several months students take internships in companies related to the sector in which they focus their studies, like aprenticeships programs.
I´ve found some scholarships aimed to Vocational Training near the village I live in.
However, I think there is a lack in this aspect, both in education in High Schools as in universities, in this case, I've only found a few initiatives not very relevant.

It depends on the age of students. There is the alternanza -scuola-lavoro but only for students attending the upper secondary school and some summer campus but they are not free

I know several foundations who offer some kinds of apprenticeship for students from the last year of high school and first university levels, like FECYT, FYCIT…But they are all related to the education department. Nevertheless, I have had some pupils studying technical careers that have get one post in practices through personal contacts.

I think that some industries, as Renault or Bayer, offer apprenticeships .The electric companies offer some posts too.

Near my town, in Naples there's Apple Developer Academy.  The Developer Academy aims to attract students with diverse curricula and interests; The training course was designed to support not only individuals who have already gained experience in writing code or computing, but also young people interested in areas such as design and business. The program is open to students from all over Italy and around the world. Then there are many companies offering partnership, like Unilever foundations whit Unilever internship programme.

They connected companies with kids from my high school who are in danger of leaving the educational system because they aren´t motivated or they don´t see a real job opportunity finishing their studies.

We also, have the FCTs program, were the students go to a company for several weeks to learn how the real world is when they start working

In Turkey, the companies have been building vocational high schools and supporting the schools financially. They train the students in line with skills they require for workers to be employed in their companies. But, mainstream high schools such as grammar and comprehensive ones give just rot learning, enabling students to tick the more appropriate box during the exams.

I think that a training opportunity in a company is very useful. In Italy, especially in secondary school an internship in a company is now obligate, but the system doesn't work especially in the south Italy in which the internships of the students are not organised and students do often something of completely different.

As far as I know, in my country there is not a training opportunity that the students should atend. In England, all the students at the age of 15 year should expend two weeks in the company that they choose and I would like to do this in Spain.

In Spain, companies and universities have joint agreements and programs to offer students training oppotunities. In most of universitary careers, specially STEM ones, degrees and master's degrees include compulsory internships in companies.
At primary and secondary school, this programs aren´t so implemented. Ocasionally, some companies allow students to visit their facilities and live close to the real work.

We have, I think, only one agency for connect school and economy:

SPIRIT Slovenia - Public Agency for Entrepreneurship, Internationalization, Foreign Investments and Technology and Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Vocational Education and Training. Both of them work mainly for secondary schools. Last year we was in connect with one company for phone applications and it was interesting experience. I am still thinking about connect with our parents.

In my country there are many possibilities of training for students. Obviously, there are MOOCs, that's universal; there are many and with very good quality. The educational offer is very broad, although I must say that it is broader for active workers. The Institute of Employment also provides more specific courses to facilitate the incorporation of the non-worker into the world of work.
