The greatest Flemish painter of the 16th century was Pieter Bruegel, the Elder, also known as Peasant Bruegel. He was born around 1525, in Breda, which is now in the Netherlands, he died September 5, 1569 in Brussels, (which is now in Belgium). When Bruegel was a child he always wanted to be a painter and was very inspired by Italian paintings. Bruegel's greatest paintings were created in Brussels, but he only created a few designs for engravings there. His landscapes and vigorous, often witty scenes of peasant life are particularly renowned (Britannica Academic).

The Journey that he took in 1552 was that he went to Italy, while he was in Italy he got inspired to make beautiful landscape paintings, the paintings he took are almost unbeatable in European art in terms of their rendering of the grandeur of the high mountains, and mountain valleys. After returning from Italy, his increasing number of paintings were also influenced, mostly together, by his interest in landscape and subjects requiring human figures.
