I want to incorporate a classroom library that is easily accessible for my students. The library will include a variety of genres and levels so that their are books that fit the needs and interests of all of my students. I like this library specifically, especially for younger grades, because it doesn't require students to search through bins to find a book they want to read. This library has the book titles visible to students so that the texts are easy to find. This is something that I want to include in my own classroom library, especially if I teach a younger grade level.

It is so important for my classroom to have a gathering area "where the class has conversations, learns to listen to one another and respect each other’s perspectives. They learn to consider each other’s work, and to problem solve together. Being physically closer fosters more active listening, more engagement, and more empathy for one another as they share ideas, hold conversations, and work together as a whole group." (Moore, 2015). This all plays a role in creating a supportive community in my classroom.

I would arrange desks in a way that encourages collaboration between table members. Collaboration is one of the 21st century skills that students need to have, which is why it is so important to incorporate in today's classrooms. "Collaboration in the classroom can help students think more deeply and creatively about a subject and develop more empathy for others' perspectives." (Sparks, 2019).

Word walls are an important part of learning, especially in lower grade levels. They provide students with "a permanent model for high frequency words, they help students see patterns and relationship in words, thus building phonics and spelling skills, and they provide reference support for children during reading and writing activities." (Word Walls, 2018). By creating word walls, you are making these words accessible to all of your students as a resource for them to use.

Anchor charts are important for student learning because they make the process of thinking visible to students. They are a resource for students to use to remind them of prior learning, and encourage them to make connections between old and new content. "An anchor chart is a tool that is used to support instruction. As you teach a lesson, you create a chart, together with your students, that captures the most important content and relevant strategies. Anchor charts build a culture of literacy in the classroom by making thinking—both the teacher’s and students’—visible." (Mulvahill, 2018).
