Our Environmental Science projects integrate Indigenous oral histories about climate patterns with modern meteorological data. We're studying local watershed health through both perspectives. Our students and staff are continuously out on the territory taking part of Tsleil-Waututh Nation‘s ongoing stewardship work, such as removing invasive species, restoring endemic communities, taking care of clam gardens, restoring eelgrass habitats, working on food sovereignty, planting a food forest around the school, practicing traditional food activities such as hunting, smoking fish, clam shucking, and more. - Zarah

I am Amy, I teach grade 1/2 on the Wet’suwet’en Territory

At Witset Elementary we start school a week early so as a class we can take part in harvesting berries and fish. Then work as a community to process the foods traditionally.

Throughout the year, we engage with the land with the help of our elders, and knowledge keepers.
