Many people settles in Mesopotamia because of the bodys of water one of them was the Mediterranean Sea which gave them water to drink since it was such a dry desert another body was the Tigris River which also gave a lot of water to the settlers. If there were no bodies of water people would have not settled because they wouldn't have been able to drink it use it to cook and maybe even bath.

Government laws are important because it kept people organized and put together. If there were no laws people would do anything more crime would happen and people would live in an unsafe society. Mesopotamia was a very cruel and strict society's rules were unfair and so were the consequences there were many rules which kept the society very safe but also very hard to live the right way. Today the laws are important to us because we can realize that other people lived in a rough society and people who make crime are very lucky they don't have to go through what people in past did. People take advantage of the laws we have today because they aren't as cruel as the ones in Mesopotamia.

Class Divisions

In Mesopotamia the three class divisions were the upper class, the middle class, and the lower class. In the upper class one of the jobs was the king the king was at the very top and got treated the best and had the best houses. In the middle level one of the jobs was a merchants and artisans they got to use amazing tools like real silver and gold and they created stuff like jewelry for the upper class. The lower class the only job was being a slave they got treated badly they mostly captured at war and brought back to work for three years then they would get released. Class divisions were created because they were all treated differently and wouldn't be fair if they all were called the same class and were all together and all lived in the same kinds of houses so you could tell the difference they made classes.

Some pieces of art were statues, tools, cups, or jewelry. There were also paintings, drawings and written pieces of art. One special piece of art was called a lyre now a days it is kind of like a harp. It had a a carved head of a wood animal with antlers attached it was a dark brown with strings going from the top to the bottom. Not only the instrument was the piece of art but what it played was too. Music was another piece of art it brought happiness and joy to many people. Many painted or drawn pieces could have sent messages to other people if maybe they didn't speak the same way it also gives a better idea of what people were talking about. Tools helped build bigger and better things and helped build things like cups and jewelry.

In Mesopotamia Sumerians used a written language called cuneiform. They used sharp tools and carved into clay tablets, it was used to show what goods people exchanged with one and other there are about 700 different symbols and things to right in this language. This came from a different language pictograph but instead they used duller objects and used wet clay once it would dry it would show in the clay and be there forever.
