1991 Fall of Soviet Union

When the Soviet Union became very poor because of war funds. Also had a hard time keeping up the pace and costs of the arm race with America. They withdrew the war of Afghanistan and Vietnam. And then president Gorbachev declares the freedom of the political and economic system. However, Communist government built the Berlin Wall to separate capitalist and US-aligned West. But the wall has successfully broken down the end of Communist party. The Fall of the Soviet Union is related to the song called Falling Behind by Laufey. This song is about accepting that life would not work out as the protagonist had envisioned. This connects to the fall of the Soviet Union because if Gorbachev thought change wasn't necessary to the people of the USSR then, till this day the USSR will completely be communist. Like the lyrics "Everybody's falling in love and I'm falling behind" can relate to the fall of the Soviet Union that every other countries are becoming more stabilized while the the communist countries are falling behind.

The containment shows a policy that the US made just to show how much they(the US) hate the Communists aka the USSR. The containment is to limit communism and do anything in power to prevent it(communism) from spreading to other countries. The US would provide military force and economic/financial aid to assist countries threatened by communists. The containment relates to Euphoria by Kendrick Lamar. This song is a diss track against Drake saying how much Kendrick is against Drake. This connects to the containment because showing hate results in a diss track, but in this case, it is a policy. The lyrics "It's always been about love and hate, now let me say I'm the biggest hater/ I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk, I hate the way that you dress" demonstrate that any countries in the Warsaw Pact will make America's blood boil. This is because the US deeply fears that one by one all the countries will have a communist government. Due to this fear, the US hates almost everything about the USSR. They hate how the USSR behaves and tries to invade countries and make them under the Warsaw Pact.

NATO is an organization that includes many European countries and the US. It was created so that if any communist country tries to invade or destroy an anti-communist country, the NATO countries will help them out. Not just a communist country but any country that tries to attack or invade a NATO country. NATO's job is to protect and serve freedom in other countries that are being under attack. The duties of NATO relate to Protection by Kiana Lede. This song is about finding protection and a sense of security through a relationship. This connects to NATO because NATO's job is to provide protection and aid to the attacked countries. The lyrics "You wanna help me, you know all about me/I know that you got me, I know that we solid/You give me protection" showcases that if one country is under attack, then NATO is determined to give them protection. NATO makes sure that whenever a country needs help, they will also be there to help them and they always have that country's back.

Truman Doctrine was to help Greece and Turkey against Communist aggression. Government Truman gives containment as a strategy to stop the spread of Communism through the use of economic and military policies. The US provides political, military and economic assistance to all democratic nations under threat from external or internal authoritarian forces from communist countries. The Truman Doctrine is related to the song What About by Blaxian. This song is about a person wanting love and affection from the other person. The lyrics "It took me some time/ To realize who you really are/To realize you're my shooting star" demonstrate that the Truman Doctrine's intention was to really help countries from communist aggression and threats. It took time for some countries to realize that they can gain freedom from communism if they support the Truman Doctrine.

The Iron Curtain has descended across the continent between the communist and non communist cities. All famous cities and populations lie in what they must call the Soviet sphere. The iron curtain was created by the Soviet Union to block themselves and its satellite states from being able to contact the West and non Communist areas. The Iron Curtain is related to the song called Every Second by Mina Okabe. This song is about the fear of change in a relationship. This connects to the iron curtain because this imaginary line was created so that the influence of communism that the USSR is spreading doesn't impact other countries. The lyrics "I spend hoping we never change" showcases that after the iron curtain the countries in West Europe were safe from communism. This makes these countries happy since they don't get influenced by the rules of communism.

International organization to prevent the recurrence of the wars of the first half of the twentieth century. The United Nations was created at the end of World War II as an international peacekeeping organization and a forum for resolving conflicts between nations. Members of the UN protect support and protect each other like allies. The US has joined the UN and gets protected from the Soviet Union. The song Beside you by Keshi talks about how he can be a better lover than the guy that the girl dated and he wants to be beside her. This is similar to how the countries wanted to be beside the UN and get protected from the Soviet Union. The lyrics "His love never felt right. Switch sides and I'm beside you. If you say it's alright." This can relate that the countries never felt right about communism and the USSR, which is why they decided to stand next and be involved in the United Nation organization.

Suez Crisis: 1956

The Suez Crisis was a way for Egypt to fully gain independence from Britain. Egypt did gain independence but due to the agreement, involving the Suez Canal, British troops were still in Egypt. The president of Egypt, Nasser, had enough of the agreement and decided to seize its property(Suez Canal). After this action, Israel, France, and Britain decided to attack near the Suez Canal. When Eisenhower got this news, he decided to threaten Israel, France, and Britain and told them to withdraw from Egypt. These three countries eventually withdrew from Egypt, leaving the Suez Canal to Egypt. The Suez Crisis problem relates to Take It All Back by Tauren Wells. This song is about reclaiming what has been stolen by negative forces. This connects to the Suez Crisis because Egypt is reclaiming the Suez Canal that was stolen or taken by Britain and France. Furthermore, the negative forces refer to France, Britain, and Israel. The lyrics "Chained down like a prisoner in my own house/ I'm taking back what the enemy stole/ If ain't clear yet I want everything you took from me" refers to Egypt feeling like an outsider in their own country. In addition, the second lyrics demonstrate that Egypt is now going to take back by seizing the Suez Canal from the French, British, and Israeli.

Warsaw Pact was a political and military alliance between the Soviet Union and European countries. It created in response to NATO and West Germany's admission to the alliance. And created a coordinated defense among the satellite states of the USSR. Used it to put down revolts in satellite nations. The Warsaw Pact is related to the song Pocket Locket by Alania Castillo. This song is about the protagonist being confident that the opponent wants her. In the beginning of the song it says "Right now I bet you think you've got me in the palm of your hands.." this relates to the USSR that when they found out about the relationship between NATO and West Germany, this would be their reaction. Similar to thinking just because the NATO and the West Germany are friends, doesn't mean that the USSR can't do it either.

The Viet Cong were the guerrilla fighters that lived in South Vietnam but supported North Vietnam. The Viet Cong were communist and used guerrilla warfare. In addition, when they were fighting with the US soldiers, they were using strategies like surprise attacks, being in a small group, hit-and-run attacks, dispersing, etc. These fighters had minimal weapons, so they used whatever, like booby traps, recoilless rifles, mines, and propelled grenades. The communist Vietnamese soldiers that are part of the Viet Cong relate to Guerrilla by Ateez. This song is about to make a quick and unexpected change. This relates to the Viet Cong because they used guerilla warfare. The Viet Cong had to move quickly from one place to another and unexpectedly attack their enemy. The lyrics "A short and intense escape/keep it loud" show that the Viet Congs had to be in small groups and be extremely careful when escaping a certain area or coming out of their hideout zone. In addition, the Viet Cong screamed at the top of their lungs so that their enemies could get scared.

Bay of Pigs: 1961

The Bay of Pigs was an invasion made by the US and people who opposed Fidel Castro and his government. The plan was to overthrow Fidel Castro's communist government and establish an anti-communist government. Unfortunately, everything did not go according to plan. The US underestimated Fidel Castro because they were outnumbered by his troops. This resulted in the US and Cuban military surrendering to Castro's troops. The Bay of Pigs invasion is related to the song Just by Radiohead. This song is about the protagonist suffering from paranoia that almost brings him to "purest hell" and blames himself for it. The lyrics "You do it to yourself/And that's what really hurts/Is that you do it to yourself, just you/You and no one else" relates to what the US did upon themselves. The US tried its best to defeat Castro's troops but they were outnumbered. It shows that the US was scared to lose, and chose to surrender. It was the US's choice that led them to be embarrassed.
