Netiquette is important especially for children of all ages as they should know how to act polite online. The internet can be a dangerous place at times. It is very important to teach your students to protect their privacy. For example having their accounts on private so only people they know can follow them as well as keeping their passwords secure. Not only should young children be worried about protecting their own privacy, but they should learn that others also need respect for their privacy on the internet as well.
This is an important part of Netiquette because all children should be aware that socializing and using the internet can be a dangerous place at times. Protecting yourself on the internet is much different from protecting yourself in real life. These are things young children need to be aware of.
https://pumpic.com/security/netiquette-rules-for-kids/

Too many the internet can seem like a place where there are no consequences. The internet is full of real people who can be greatly impacted by mean comments made towards them. It's very important to teach young children to asked themselves before posting or commenting to someone else, how they would feeling receiving that comment posted towards them? The internet allows you to walk away, block and ignore people. It's important to know when to walk away. The internet is not a weapon!
This is important to Netiquette because the internet can seem to young kids as "fun and games" where young children make "sarcastic jokes" which may seem harmless to them, but it's now on the internet for everyone to see. Cyber bullying is something that must be taught to young children before then even have access to the internet. I believe this is very important part of netiquette as teachers not only should worry about face to face bully, but also bullying online.

https://www.schoolmart.com/2017/08/28/teaching-children-appropriate-netiquette/

You never know who is on the other end when it comes to the internet. Fake profiles are made everyday. That leaves a big issue when it comes to young children using the internet and communicating with strangers who can claim to be the same age. Making young children aware of this can help protect them for dangerous people. Teaching them what to do if they encounter disturbing content or messages from strangers. As well as bullying and sexting. Young children need to be aware of these things as their are predators and dangerous people online that they should be aware and know red flags. Another important message that should be shared about the internet is "whatever goes on the internet stays on the internet". This is important to teach young children. Nothing ever gets deleted from the internet. Informing young children about this will make them think twice before posting.
This is important to Netiquette as young children could think they are talking to children their age, but it could really turn out to be a much older person who is maybe harmful. Young children are more easy to fall for these kids of predators on the internet so it's important to teach young children about these types of people. As well as not to trust everyone or everything you see on the internet.

https://www.childmags.com.au/netiquette-how-to-teach-your-child-digital-manners/

Netiquette was not taught in my school until seventh grade where we took our first computer class. The class was more on how to type and look for proper sites for school work. I learned in that class that the school has a software that blocks certain sites for us students. Other than that I was not taught anything that had to do with acting proper on the internet, at school. My parents had taught me about internet safety and made sure as a kid, I was following those rules. At the time, it might have seemed annoying but as I get older I understand completely. I take away from this project that not every school or guardians might teach students about netiquette, so I need to make time in my class for it. Even though I am not that old, students today have more access to the internet in their daily school lives. As a teacher, I will want to clarify the school’s internet policy and make sure to instill into my lesson on netiquette. I did not consider how much time actually needs to be spent on teaching students proper use of the internet. I now relize this lesson will have to be taught regularly. This project has strengthed my point of view of taking my digital represtation seriously. They tell you, to be careful on social media because of job interviews, but it is important to always have the sense of using netiquette even as an after you get the job. I want to be a role model to my students in more than just the classroom.

After watching the video the class will be split into groups and discuss what they think are the proper forms of netiquette. Once groups have finished and written down their list of what they think is correct, there will be a powerpoint shown. Students will then make poster and present to the class the "dos and don'ts" pf netiquette that they came up with in their groups.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6&v=PmTBRSnhlHU&feature=emb_logo

As a class, they will discuss the ideas of different emotions, i.e, sad, happy, hurt, mad. The students will be placed into partners and they will be given a list of emotions and they will try to have to make a face, off the list and have their partners guess.
At this point, the class will come together and talk about how one can not see the other person's face on a computer screen and how words can hurt. Students will watch a video about feelings and using words nicely.
After the video, the students will break into partners and discuss what they learned from the video. The teacher will be floating from group to group to help the students formulate a list of good ways to have proper netiquette, as well as rules they should follow. At the end of the lesson, the students will share their list with the class, and then post them around the room.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmRjyQlWyQg&feature=emb_logo

As a young chid growing up I can't remember learning much about online safety, cyber bullying, privacy or protection. Having this opportunity to research about netiquette really helped open my eyes to many things. I did section #1 of this netiquette project where I had to research the importance of netiquette in children of all ages. As a future teacher doing this project really helped open my eyes to many things regarding internet safety. It really made me realize that it's very important to talk about online safety. Online safety is something that people look past as people assume you should know. For children that is not the case and they need to understand that the online world is much different from the real world. As a teacher your students safety ism very important not only in the classroom, but online as well. I look back at my research and I wish those safety rules were stressed on me more as a child.

Similar to Danielle and Courtney I do not remember learning about being cautious about what you should be posting online. I had to take a typing class in school as well as a computer tech class, but those did not touch on the idea of being safe about posting things on the internet. We mainly focused on using the correct program and being able to put equations in Microsoft excel. When thinking about netiquette from a future teacher standard, I feel like it needs to be brought up in a younger classroom, as children are getting access to the internet younger and younger. I think children often look past the idea of being safe online because they usually see the innocence in people and are willing to trust someone on a screen who might be lying about their actual identity. What I am taking away from this project is that teachers must be able to help children not only with the etiquette portion but they also need to be able to show children how to follow the correct guidelines in order to stay safe.
