Both attractions have been admired long before development of Bliss State Park, but not easily accessed before the construction of the entrance road. Bliss State Park is open May-September for the campgrounds and day visitors are permitted access from sunrise to sunset. Two beaches Calawee Cove and Lester Beach can only be accessed by park visitors or boaters that anchor close to shore. The Rubicon Trailhead, that is only accessed by park visitors, eventually connected to the most photographed and scenic point of Lake Tahoe, called Emerald Bay. The Rubicon Trailhead is 6.5 miles from Emerald Bay. DL. Bliss State Park still remains the only access point for hikers to begin the Rubicon hiking trail.
