We watched this video today. It was very funny! We learnt about stereotypes. That's what other cultures imagine when they think about us. Some of the them are true but lots of them aren't! Write your ideas and opinions.

Dear Lucy,
In my opinion the Italian stereotypes are both true and false.For example :
"Crazy drivers" or

"gesture while we talk" are  true stereotypes, but this does not mean that we all do it. I don't like when strangers make us stereotypes that are not real, for example: "we're fat" and this is false.

I think that stereotypes are bad for the people who live in certain countries, because some of them are very offensive.
A lot of stereotypes are true, but they can give a wrong idea of someone.

Dear John,
in these days with my English teacher we spoke about the stereotypes. I believe that all the countries have at least one stereotype. In Italy we believe that the French people always eat Baguette, wear Basque and drink Champagne, or that the American people eat only Hamburgers or French fries. But there are a lot of stereotypes against my country too. The people think that we only eat pizza and pasta. But this isn't the truth.We eat salad, fish and meat , like all the people in the world. I believe that the stereotypes aren't a good thing, because they generalize. And let think wrong things about people all over the world. Hope to see you soon,

Dear Olena,
I think stereotypes are often false, but sometimes they aren't. In my opinion it's wrong to believe in stereotypes, because they influence people of different countries that don't know each other and they make people believe in false ideas. For example in Italy people think that French people are rude and that Portuguese people are too cheap, but we don't know people of these countries so we can't judge them. People of other countries think Italians are fat, crazy drivers and that we do a lot of gestures. Italian people aren't really fat, because we don't eat only pizza, pasta, sandwiches... but we eat any type of food; some Italian people maybe are crazy drivers, but in every country there are people like that! But it's true that we do a lot of gestures. As we can see there are false and true stereotypes, so you can't judge people before you know them.

Dear Kate,
in the last lessons we spoke a lot about stereotypes. Every country has its stereotypes, but they always aren't true. In this video I saw that there are some false stereotypes. For example that we are fat and we only eat pasta or pizza: it's wrong because there are a lot of thin Italian and we also eat other types of food. People think that we are bad drivers and this is absolutely true. Another true stereotype is that we are really loud and we gesticulate to speak. Or we have big families and we are "mummy's boys".
So, I think that stereotypes are good if you want to get an idea of those people but you also must know better them to "judge".

Dear Milly,
recently in my Class, we have spoken about italian stereotypes. I want to tell you not to believe about what people say about italian people. Some stereotypes are true But others are false. The Most famous is "italian are fat" only because we have really good food But we don't eat pasta or pizza EVERY DAY! Or another one is "in Italy the weather is always sunny!" But it's not true because in winter it's cloudy almost everyday! Then I think that the stereotypes are not good because They make people think wrong things about different countries. In the last lesson we watched a video which was about italian stereotypes.
In my opinion some stereotypes are true but other are false. I think people often talk without knowing the truth and that's wrong.
It's important to say not all italians act in the same way: some people reflect the stereotypes but other don't.

yesterday our teacher showed us a video about Italian stereotypes.

Some of these maybe are true, but many are false and I'm so annoyed that some people have this idea about Italians. In fact, I think that the stereotypes are a very bad thing because they often give a bad impression on a country.

So please don’t believe everything you’ve heard about Italy, as I don’t believe in the many stereotypes about America: for example, I know that you don’t always eat hamburgers.

Dear Ashley,
in the last english lesson we talked about italian stereotypes and it was a very interesting conversation.
Some strereotypes are real like " they are crazy drivers" or " italian guys talk with their hands a lot". I like that British people don't know Italians only for pasta, pizza or mafia but also for the culture and history.
I think stereotypes give general ideas about a country.
For example we believe that French people have moustaches and they are very romantic or Germans are all racist but is not real because sometimes we judge a country by their representatives ; all the world know Italians for Berlusconi but that doesn't mean we are all like him. After all Italian stereotypes are not so bad, we are known for our good food and our particular personality.

In the last lessons we talked about stereotypes, a very extensive topic. In my opinion Italian stereotypes aren't always true, like the usual Italian guy "Guido", or the four M's rule:
-Mamma
-Mafia
-Mandolino
-Maccheroni
This stereotypes are true, but they are also exaggerated. It's true that people usually leave earlier the family to work in other countries, or that Italian are not good drivers, but sometimes this words are offensive or even rude for Italians.
Even if I have Bulgarian origins, I feel like an Italian just like my classmates.

Dear Lebron ,
in my class we spoke about stereotypes , that all the people have about other countries or nationalities .
About the italian people for example they say that are mafiosi , that everybody eat only pizza and pasta, that the men are latin lovers and much more.
I think that it isn't right to judge people by their nationality or religion or race.
It's important to give opinions about how others really behave.
It's a kind of respect.

In these days with my friends and my English teacher talked about stereotypes in the world.
for example, we believe France people don't speak English very well and take baguette under the armpit;
Portugues are slow and friendly.
English people believe Italian people are addicted to coffee and eat always pizza and pasta!
They think are crazy drivers and gesture with their hands...

In the world a lot of people think that italy is a beautiful country rich of art and history, the food is excellent and the politicians are the worst in the world.
But there are a lot of people who think that the men are pervies and mafious,that we drive very badly and that we don' t queue but that is false.
A lot of stereotypes in the world are false and this can compromise the friendship between people.

Dear Beatriz,
how are you? I hope that you are fine . In this short e-mail i want to tell you what happened last english lesson. Me e and my class have talked, whit our teacher, about very interesting, funny and addictive subject: STEREOTYPES !
We watched a video on YouTube, of an Italian boy that asked foreign people what they thought about Italians. I also did an online research and I asked my family (that lives in Romania and Greece) what they think about Italy and its population. I discovered that...
the most frequent stereotypes are:
- we eat a lot of pasta (spaghetti, maccheroni, gnocchi, lasagne...) and
pizza, everyday.
- we are mom's boys.
- since the mafia was born in Sicily, they define us mobsters
- they think that we all play the mandoline.
- politicians (for example Berlusconi) think more to profit that the good of the population
_ we are racist, rude in the guide and absurd in car parks.
- we use gestures to talk and we are loud.
- we don't know how to speak English
- we wear fashion clothes, because Milan is the capital of fashion
and much more...
As you can see there are more examples but only two or three are true, as:
- that we use gestures to talk and we are loud
or
- that we eat pasta and pizza ...
But I'm talking in general
because, as already you know, the stereotypes are only some prejudices; that each country has !

Dear Oliver,
In these days with my class we spoke a lot about stereotypes.
In my opinion italian stereotypes aren't true.
The people think that we only eat pizza and pasta, but this is false.
We eat also fish, egg, meat and ham, like all the people in the word.
They thik that in Italy the weather is always good and sunny, but this is false, usually the weather is cloudy.
Other think that we are crazy driver, mom's boys, racist, we don't know how to speak English and since the mafia was born in Sicily.
Some stereotypes are true but also EXAGGERATED.
